Well done! Looks like they're making progress even if we can't see the draught changing yet. With that many cars out, it looks like DAFF hasn't complained.

If all is well, we should see the draught drop a bit from 9.9m (maybe 9.5m?) in about 3 or 4 hours. If DAFF have "issues" with it, the next movement would likely be back to the Point Cartwright Anchorage. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed.

Yep, that'll be the moment of truth. If the draught drops significantly from 9.9m by 16:00, they're unloading. If not, there may be a problem... Btw, I did some reading and it seems that the RoRo ships are not keen on shipping to Australia because so many have been denied entry for biosecurity...

Build date is the exact day it came off the production line. Compliance date is when Tesla certifies that the car meets all applicable Aussie Design Rules. Possibly the day it gets unloaded.

Good to hear, but it's interesting that the sound system barely gets a mention on the AU MY information web page when I looked today. When I ordered the car last year, it made mention that it was a Premium Sound System.

Just noticed that the premium sound system no longer applies to the RWD Model Y. Hopefully these ones are all the premium spec. that applied when we ordered last year.

Price isn’t everything. I found NRMA had the best policy for a reasonable price (under $1500 for MY RWD). I wanted windscreen (+ roof) cover as well as choice of repairer. They added to the baseline premium. I’ve had claims in the past and they’ve never given me any grief about what they’d pay...

Perhaps you have a family address in NSW? Come up and take delivery and then get it transferred to VIC within 90 days? Do check the transfer fees though. It could be more than the savings in NSW....

I used to work in the car game (40 years ago) and they always cleared as much of the old stock as possible before showing the new model. That way, you minimised the need to discount. People forget that car sales is still just 21st century horse trading.

Yep. They're all RHD, so only Japan, NZ, AUS, UK and maybe a couple of others would want them. However, they may discount them heavily in the next few months, just to clear the way.

I just checked in with Tesla. My new VIN PC36##### was built 26/12/23. It will travel on the RoRo MORNING CRYSTAL which is currently doing circles off the coast of Shanghai waiting for a berth. An updated invoice (important for NSW customers to get their rebates) is supposed to come through...

I wonder if Tesla are actually hoping that we'll all cancel our orders. In a way, that would actually help them. Soon as we cancel, we're no longer a PR nightmare, they don't have to scramble to fix the problem and they can sell the cars to other folk saying that they'll be delivered in March...

So, I did some simple maths: From the indicated track, Brisbane to Shanghai is about 12 days (ship was averaging 15kts once it got underway). So 8 days from its last position at midnight on the 25th. So if there's no drama with officials getting into Shanghai, and say it takes 2 days to unload...

I'd be surprised if they change it. My updated "Final" invoice (NSW stamp duty) has the same VIN and now a late September build date. Realistically, if they switch us to newer cars, who will want to buy a 5 to 6 month old car that's about to be superceded by a 2024 refresh?

They're probably already assigned to more recent orders. Doing it this way means that only the customers waiting on GC are annoyed/frustrated/financially stuffed/disappointed(--insert word of your choice here--). Brand damage is limited to GC orders. I have some other concerns as the time...
