pre conditioning for non-tesla charging stations

In addition to their maintenance ethic, a big part of a Tesla supercharging site's high availability is the number of stalls. When Evie, Chargefox, NRMA, BP, AMPOL et. al. have only one or two plugs at a site, it's easy for them to fail a 70% success criterion.

    TACC random slowing down

Respectfully, I have no intention of "getting used to" an unpredictable (read dangerous) car. I've started talking to the federal transport folk over here. Work has started on legislating an ADR/MVS for cruise control systems. The challenge will be getting politicians to make it retrospective...

    TACC random slowing down

I’m getting the same issues (not using Autosteer) in a new MYRWD (2023.44.30.8). Since it’s mostly Brits and Aussies raising this, is this a RHD problem? I effectively brake checked someone today when the car decided to slow from 50kph to 40kph and I wasn’t ready for it. It messed me around 6...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Ok, well, it's only taken 22 weeks since I ordered it, but I have a booking for delivery next week. I'd best go and pay for it before they change their minds.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Mine just moved from 1/2-22/2 to 30/1-20/2. No real difference.

Fantastic. This just gets better and better... 🤬

Was that to solve the ADR issue?

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I got the text at 14:05 on Friday. It didn't ask me to schedule, it just said that the car is now in the right country and we'll let you know when we're ready. Oh, and it also said something like: "if you ever want to see your car, place lots of $$$$$ in our account - soon".
  9. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

You're very patient. I'd have demanded they repay the NL company and walked away after what they did to you.
  10. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

It probably isn't. They just put this stuff online to keep us from calling Tesla... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Looks like MC leaves for Melbourne at 16:00 tomorrow so, maybe not as many cars to unload as it first appeared. NSW and ACT customers can expect a "Please schedule" message soon.
  12. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Same EDD as you. I'm not expecting it to change yet. Unloading at PK starts 19/1 and is supposed to finish at 23:00 on 21/1. That implies a lot of cars to be processed and moved to Sydney. Could be a week before they know what's what. My concern now, is that with so many cars, the...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Well done! Looks like they're making progress even if we can't see the draught changing yet. With that many cars out, it looks like DAFF hasn't complained.
  14. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

If all is well, we should see the draught drop a bit from 9.9m (maybe 9.5m?) in about 3 or 4 hours. If DAFF have "issues" with it, the next movement would likely be back to the Point Cartwright Anchorage. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed.
  15. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Oh dear! The forecast route has changed. An hour ago, it was finishing at Fisherman Islands. It's now around the grain terminal at Hamilton. I take it back, there's just a mapping anomaly going on.

Remember: the only good BMSB is a dead BMSB.... Kill them all and let the Department of Agriculture sort them out.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/shipid:461277/zoom:10 At the bottom of the ship's description on the above link. It left Shanghai showing 9.9m. If it dropped (say) to 9.6m after docking, I'd expect that they are unloading. I think we'll be ok. It looked like the ship only went to...
  18. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Yep, that'll be the moment of truth. If the draught drops significantly from 9.9m by 16:00, they're unloading. If not, there may be a problem... Btw, I did some reading and it seems that the RoRo ships are not keen on shipping to Australia because so many have been denied entry for biosecurity...
  19. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Hopefully. It would expedite matters significantly. Last time, when GC docked, they unloaded a few cars (draught went from 9.7m to 9.4m) and then the bugs appeared.
  20. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Build date is the exact day it came off the production line. Compliance date is when Tesla certifies that the car meets all applicable Aussie Design Rules. Possibly the day it gets unloaded.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Good to hear, but it's interesting that the sound system barely gets a mention on the AU MY information web page when I looked today. When I ordered the car last year, it made mention that it was a Premium Sound System.
  22. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Just noticed that the premium sound system no longer applies to the RWD Model Y. Hopefully these ones are all the premium spec. that applied when we ordered last year.
  23. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I got a reminder from my phone this morning that I ordered a car a while back. I wonder where it is?? Perhaps the CIA could help? They know how to sweep for bugs.
  24. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

We need to see an entry in qships for a docking date and so far, there's been nothing at all for MC. Last time, GC arrived and then waited offshore for a day or two before coming in to be inspected. AA Terminals has MC being unloaded on the 16th.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Sorry, that wasn’t aimed at you, just a general observation based on some bitter experience..
  26. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Price isn’t everything. I found NRMA had the best policy for a reasonable price (under $1500 for MY RWD). I wanted windscreen (+ roof) cover as well as choice of repairer. They added to the baseline premium. I’ve had claims in the past and they’ve never given me any grief about what they’d pay...

Then it's very likely to be on the Morning Crystal.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Perhaps you have a family address in NSW? Come up and take delivery and then get it transferred to VIC within 90 days? Do check the transfer fees though. It could be more than the savings in NSW....

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I used to work in the car game (40 years ago) and they always cleared as much of the old stock as possible before showing the new model. That way, you minimised the need to discount. People forget that car sales is still just 21st century horse trading.
  30. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

    1) Stamp Duty: If you qualify, you now have to apply for a refund, after you get delivery of the car. 2) Yes, they are two different things. Both items are handled on the NSW gov website, after you take delivery of the car.
  31. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Firstly, I really hope they get it sorted for you this week. However, having read the tesla-info.com site, cars are not made to order. Instead, a buyer has to wait until a planned production run includes a car with their specs. Plus, it's doubly hard because AUS need RHD vehicles. It's not a...
  32. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Mine too. They must be very confident that there are no bugs, this time. (It was 6/2 to 23/2 so not a big change).
  33. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Looks like AA Terminals have the Morning Crystal scheduled for 17 January in Brisbane. However, first it has to pass the biosecurity checks...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  34. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Yep. They're all RHD, so only Japan, NZ, AUS, UK and maybe a couple of others would want them. However, they may discount them heavily in the next few months, just to clear the way.
  35. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Just coz you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
  36. S

lol. Maybe your mailer is smarter than we are.... 🤣
  37. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I just checked in with Tesla. My new VIN PC36##### was built 26/12/23. It will travel on the RoRo MORNING CRYSTAL which is currently doing circles off the coast of Shanghai waiting for a berth. An updated invoice (important for NSW customers to get their rebates) is supposed to come through...
  38. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I wonder if Tesla are actually hoping that we'll all cancel our orders. In a way, that would actually help them. Soon as we cancel, we're no longer a PR nightmare, they don't have to scramble to fix the problem and they can sell the cars to other folk saying that they'll be delivered in March...
  39. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

So, I did some simple maths: From the indicated track, Brisbane to Shanghai is about 12 days (ship was averaging 15kts once it got underway). So 8 days from its last position at midnight on the 25th. So if there's no drama with officials getting into Shanghai, and say it takes 2 days to unload...
  40. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Yeah, that's about as close as we're gonna get... I reckon I'll be in one of these by the time it arrives. 🦼

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Guys, I know we're all VERY frustrated , but it does seem to be an industry wide problem. Hopefully the next load will be on another ship, although the Hyundai guys said they had the same issue with the Grand Aurora. I wonder what happens if the ship comes back in February with a fresh load...
  42. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

What could possibly go wrong...? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  43. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I'd be surprised if they change it. My updated "Final" invoice (NSW stamp duty) has the same VIN and now a late September build date. Realistically, if they switch us to newer cars, who will want to buy a 5 to 6 month old car that's about to be superceded by a 2024 refresh?
  44. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Thinking about it, I reckon Tesla knew when they pushed the Sydney dates out to the end of Feb. An extra 20 days would cover the round trip to Shanghai and cleaning. There was no need to push out that far if the DAFF were happy.
  45. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

It could be a decision by Glovis or the captain. If the crew found bugs today, they’d know an inspection was pointless. Same thing happened to the GC in New Zealand. Not sure what happened with the cargo. C’mon Tesla, what’s the play going to be?
  46. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I‘m currently waiting at my Hyundai dealer while they fix a cracked A/C condenser. Out of interest, I went to sales to ask about the new Kona EV. I was seriously contemplating dropping the MY for a 2024 Kona EV but there’s no pricing and they’re stuck on the docks in Sydney until late January...
  47. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Probably. If it fails this time, it may be sent back to Korea/China. There's nothing about the GC on any of the AAT Fisherman Islands schedules for the 23rd or later.
  48. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

What you just wrote would be more info than we've been getting. It would help to know if the ship has failed the last inspection or if the carrier simply can't get a berth at Fisherman Islands until January. At the moment, I'm on my 3rd EDD, the NSW stamp duty exemption is something I will now...
  49. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

If they do that, delivery delays will just keep bumping along to more and more customers. As it is, we're only a handful of unhappy customers that they can easily brush off ("containment strategy"). They might have to bring out a fresh batch just for us if GC is ultimately refused entry, but...
  50. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

They're probably already assigned to more recent orders. Doing it this way means that only the customers waiting on GC are annoyed/frustrated/financially stuffed/disappointed(--insert word of your choice here--). Brand damage is limited to GC orders. I have some other concerns as the time...
