Model S Delivery Dates and Sequencing

I wonder whether any of this would have happened if I had not sent the e-mail yesterday asking for a status check?

Congrats on getting your car! I get the feeling that it was sitting on the test track among many other mostly done cars and the delivery team didn't realize it until you prompted them!

I got the same email for Southern California. Therefore it must be that we have a configuration that is already available to deliver. I would love to get it in December, but I still have to finish my garage remodel and get plugs installed. I still have to sell my other car as well. So, I will be the only goofball to hit the deliver in 2013 button. Interesting thing is...I'm not due for delivery until Feb-March (res #7577), but email implies if not December, then January delivery is imminent! Am I reading that correctly?
Amazing that P7577 has a "strong possibility" of getting delivery in Dec. Lucky you!

Seems to be around P3500+ to around P8000ish getting these emails. P7577 getting this email is not a huge surprise, as Tesla's not following sequence number exactly and we've already seen a delivery in the upper P3000s.

With 10-15% cancellations, and more than 40% Performance or normal 85kWH, what total deliveries for 2012 woudl this imply?
1200 sig
250 can sig
(8000-3000) * .4 = 2000

about 3500?

I'm sure that's wrong, but makes me wonder.

I figured that my specs are pretty much consistent with a black sig so they most likely can complete production immediately

I also received the email about December delivery. Followed by a call from my delivery specialist that my car has a VIN and delivery range of Dec 16th - 30th.

I didn't get the VIN over the phone but will post it once I get it.

Update: VIN # 1936

I also received the 'December Delivery' email even though my Finalized configuration includes the Multi-Coat Red, which will not be available until March(?). I therefore believe the email was sent out to everyone in the Production Que. I will await my chosen color, even if it mean March/April/May delivery.

Yes for December delivery. Got an email from owner experience with my VIN: 5YJSA1DP2CFP01907

"Yes, I would really, really like December delivery"

I suspect that they blasted this out to pretty much all 85 kWh orders out there within reason (batching, geography etc.)

Looks like there are a lot of 60s and 40s out there given how deep Tesla's going with this.

The polls here on TMC were always skewed heavily towards the 85 and performance 85, but possibly just due to nature of the audience of the TMC. I guess the general audience are leaning far more heavily towards the 60 and 40 packs. Hopefully it's not due to massive cancellations or deferrals.

Agree and think you are right-on with both points. They are making 400/week max, so that's 1600 since mid-November max, but they are reaching out above P9000 for delivery within three weeks? - cancellations, 40's and 60's can only explain the jump. Two weeks ago it was all Sigs... WOW! I'd be interested to look at the active reservation list - must be tons of cancelations of those who were later-adopters-but-before-the-first-car-delivery-in-June, and tons of 40's and 60's. bet some of them are on the fence and dive for 85kWh. I did! Anyway, wonderful for all - Hit the Road, Jacks and Jills!

What a roller coaster of a day. I have been an extremely frequent visitor to the delivery threads, as I've anxiously awaited word from Telsa that my car is ready for delivery. Especially since I am P214 and I see all these other Production cars further down the line getting delivery e-mails/windows/etc. I am thrilled as a stock holder that Tesla is cranking out cars and getting them delivered to customers, but a little annoyed that some people 2000-3000 spots after me in the sequence were getting their cars. So imagine my excitement when I see an e-mail today at 4 P.M. PST from the Tesla Delivery Experience Team, only to be given the option of getting the car delivered in December or January. I debated and finally decided to go with January delivery (crazy I know, but I have my reasons). Then at 9:34 P.M. PST, I get an e-mail from my Delivery Experience Specialist telling me my Model S is ready! Quite the swing of emotions, going from resigned to a January delivery to having decide if I can pick up the this weekend or next! I am very excited and confused at the same time. I'm replying to this latest e-mail to confirm that the car is actually ready, and start scrambling to get the financing lined up. I can only hope my DES hasn't inadvertently contacted me. I don't have a VIN yet, but here are the details on my Model S:

Performance 85kWh
Blue Metallic
Panoramic roof
Carbon Fiber spoiler
21" Silver wheels
Tan Performance interior
Carbon Fiber decor
Tech Package
Sound Studio Package
Active Air Suspension
Parcel Shelf
Twin Chargers

Exciting times indeed.

So my buddy, Tim, just learned he will be taking Factory delivery Sunday. But a little background. Tim and I met as fraternity brothers at little UOP in Stockton, Ca, a very long time ago. Tim is a mechanic, fanatic. As a sophomore, he sold me his modified '57 Chevy convert, with 3 in the floor. Loved that car. Until I bricked it. We went our separate ways after college, he to fly big airplanes, me to count beans. In 1994, on the occasion of my 50th birthday we had a fraternity "reunion" at our new place in Napa. He and his family, had settled in Conn. Well, as things wound down in our careers, he got transfered to SFO, and bought a house about a block away from mine. Oh, and I should mention his wife is a sorority sister of my wife's. And that another fraternity/sorority couple had moved in a few blocks from there. In any case, Tim and I decided to order a Tesla in March, 2009. I got mine, P-83 last week. And he just heard he gets his, P-372, on Sunday. Can't get rid of the guy! Exciting times!

I bet there's a lot of standard suspensions out there as well, as well as quite a few people who waited for the red to finalize.

On another Delivery thread someone was told they're cranking 90/day right now. So ~600/wk, ~2500/mo.
