Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I believe you have forgotten who Elon's opponents are. The oil industry makes billions of dollars every single day and spends some of it on maintaining the status quo. Then there's the dealer network who also supports politicians. Compared to them Elon's companies really are the 98 pound weaklings.

Has anyone ever received a ticket from that? Here it's illegal too but the police don't ticket it, and people do it all the time. This is likely a law that could go away and no one would miss it.

It only doesn't cost that much if the electrical supply is sufficient. If they have upgrade the service, it will cost plenty. And I fear far too many will put in two only and call it done.

Wasn't a nanny until a few months ago. Not so sure now. They have done some pretty nanny like things to Tesla while avoiding others who have done much less than Tesla is doing. (e.g. Rivian removed the interior camera)

Much greater FSD use. With more FSD use the roads become safer and other car manufacturers are visibly shown to be further behind. Lower insurance cost for drivers will drive use and uptake. Both of which will help Tesla sales. (And eventually will reduce advertising income from other car makers)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That is my understanding. Tesla is encouraging the use of FSD. Now if only their insurance was priced lower than my current insurance.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

My understanding is that Safety Score is turned off (or at 100%) whenever FSD is used.

There are plenty of reasons to have an X, ease of entry being the biggest one.

While true, people still have interest rate sticker shock. Even if the actual payment is lower, that doesn't sink in.
  11. jerry33

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That's true with any loan where rate > 0 and worse for long term loans. The only way to reduce cost is to pay it off early.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

I believe that is what each billion consists of. The amount was something like $90B. Correction $60B not 90.

A Tesla ought to really look as if it is a Tesla (or Cyber) to promote brand awareness. If it looks very different, then more education will be required. The more people see Teslas on the road, the more they will consider getting one.

You got it. I don't cycle in Texas for obvious reasons. (I'm might if $TSLA really goes down well below double digits.)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. Although I nitpick FSD, I wouldn't be without it. I've driven at least 45K miles on FSD (mostly highway until the last few V11 releases).

No idea about the average, but I commuted around an hour each way, unless I got called back in during the middle of the night. So normal was 120 min / day.

This has been my experience with the exceptions of people who live in very cold climates, tow trailers, or have experience local power outages on a trip (in this last case, gas cars are not immune). All would be rectified if there was no more than 50-75 miles between Superchargers.

The only Facebooking I do is in some private groups, some of which I admin. That keeps the garbage down to a minimum. If it wasn't for those groups, I'd not be on FB at all.

I thought the hold up was the Vegas city council. Until they allow driverless in the tunnels it won't happen. I'm sure the Boring company is working on this, but city councils are notorious for not embracing new technology.

Tesla 3 and Y are also more expensive--they don't appear to be doing too badly. I see no reason why the smaller car wouldn't be popular as well. Price isn't everything, safety and reliability count too.

It's much better than V10 and V11. I never had 12.3.3, so no comparison there. It does things that I wouldn't do, but not as many as V10 (which was unusable in town) or V11 (which was somewhat usable in town). Haven't taken a road trip with 12.3.4 yet so no comparison, but V11 was 90% fine on...

That's certainly part of it, but most is that Tesla does not pay the advertising ransom. There have been plenty of negative possible stories for legacy auto that have never been aired or a best a one sentence blip. It's amazing what $100M can do to suppress bad news.

That's your take, and that's fine. Mine is that $12k for FSD pays for itself if it saves you from even one distracted crash at 70+ mph. (These days most of my miles are road trip miles) It has saved me from two accidents in town so far. While I purchased it four years ago, so it wasn't $12K--I...

Going out to a decent restaurant or movie for two people gets close to $100, and $50 for a not so great restaurant. Not going out makes a big difference to the monthly budget. Especially if you went out a couple of times a week. That's around $400-$800 a month.

The only issue I have with "replaces the second car" is that usually the second car is the old first car, so it no longer costs anything other than maintenance, which isn't high because it's driven less. If a family doesn't have a second car to start with then RT is an obvious choice (perhaps...
