You then need an adapter for CCS2 plus early models like mine needed some wiring changes.
However the technique is to attach the adapter to the charging cable first then insert that into the type 2 port on the car. It then locks all three parts together and starts charging.
Removing the adapter from the CCS2 cable is often difficult when the adapter and CCS2 cable are new and the tolerances are fine. I had a similar problem at Exeter when it first opened but wth more use it became easier.
