Hi everyone! I just got word from my delivery specialist that my car will be on Tuesday's boat, Honolulu bound :) Unfortunately, it wasn't ready in time to make today's sailing, but I'm just happy that it will be on its way in a week. I'll post pics as soon as I get it and hopefully I can make it in time for the first meet.

Malnobnard- You might want to use the incredible RodF tracking method. Check your smartphone app and see what message you get. If you get a message along the lines of "app not turned on" or something of that sort, the car is within 3G distance on the mainland or here in Hawaii. When the message changes to something like "cannot receive ..." your car is at sea. About 4 days later the "app not turned on" message pops up again. and you know your car is in Hawaii. It sometimes takes 3 days for your car to make its way to the SC after it comes into range again. Looking forward to hearing your reactions to the car.

Hi Papfox, thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely be checking my app every day after Tuesday. Heck, I already check it everyday hoping someone activated the remote access so I can at least track my car! haha. BTW, your name always makes me think of my friend's dad, also from Kailua. His last name is Palafox and he is a father of 7! So, I always kind of laugh when I think of calling him Papafox after seeing your SN. Anyway, thanks again. Can't wait to meet everyone eventually at the meets.

If it helps, I think the boat does not leave until Wednesday (Robert says Tuesday, but it may be that it's loaded that day). My app changed to cannot contact car at around 5:45 pm on a Wednesday, the day horizon lines leaves Oakland. On Sunday evening around 7:50 pm, I could connect again so I knew the boat was close. I think the boat arrives sometime after 11 pm on Sundays. Many of us have asked Mac to activate location services, with no success. However, Mac can get GPS updates from the car if you want confirmation of its location prior to shipping.

Thanks jatk! So if the car arrives on Sunday, when is the usual delivery day? You know...so I can torment myself even more by counting the hours.

the cars get delivered to the SC on Tuesday or Wednesday if it's on the Sunday boat. I think they're in a slow period right now after the end of 2nd qtr rush last month, so you might be able to get it as soon as Wednesday or Thursday. Those last few days knowing your car is in Hawaii and you can't drive it yet are the hardest!

Yes, it is possible to pick up Thursday, maybe Wednesday, if your car is one of the first delivered to the SC, and assuming there are no significant fixes. I picked up my car at noon on Thursday. My appointment was confirmed before my car shipped. My car was only 1 of 6 shipped that week. Hopefully the numbers are still low because it will work to your advantage. I agree with nanimac . . . the last few days are tough. Counting hours, minutes, obsessively checking your app, etc. are all part of the process. We're here if you need info to help you through the home stretch.

Thanks for the info! Weird thing, my app now says "Contacting car...May take a few minutes" now and is stuck in that screen. This happened this evening...could this be the "cannot connect car" message you were talking about Jatk? The thing is, the car was completed before July 5th (the SC tracked the GPS and it was in the factory lot). My friend at the SC is going to check tomorrow where it is now but either the battery is dead, or it made it on today's boat by some miracle! More sleepless nights I guess.

sounds like your car may be on the boat!! Don't think the battery's dead..mine sat on the dock for a week and was ok ( I thought the same thing :) )

Sounds promising. That's what my app did before it would say cannot connect (I never saw that message other than when my car was on the boat). It would stay on the "contacting car...may take a few minutes" for around a minute, then say some version of "cannot connect to car." Crossing my fingers for you!

Argh...it's still at the port. Well, at least it's not at the factory and is waiting patiently at the port. I'm guessing it's in a container or something so there's no internet connectivity. My friend was able to track it by GPS to tell me where it was. Thanks for all the support folks!

A couple milestones yesterday.. First time charging at a public charging station and 1,000 miles!

TEG-like stalker you are. ;)

now THAT'S a compliment.

Yup. Another Tesla pulled in after I left. A brand new black P85 driven by a guy with a solar city shirt on!

Actually got the most attention ever parked there. One conversation with someone about my car and at least three other people who stopped to admire it!

Those spaces always make me nervous - they're super tight, even in my Leaf. I shudder to think of a Tesla trying to squeeze into them. When we took the Tesla to that Whole Foods, I parked actually in the space to the right of the handicapped parking in front of the store for more space and didn't even bother with the chargers, lol.

Interestingly enough, come to think of it, a cool car I noticed that was charging at that time was a RAV 4 EV! I didn't think that they were selling those outside of California - somebody must have imported one in. Don't know if Servco would service it though.

i actually had lots of room..most of the ones i've seen are really small and wouldn't even attempt to park in those!
