A completely unsanctioned listing of Roadster purchasers, when they bought, and car number.

Info is based on Tesla Press, hearsay and "owner" claims, documentting lucky few who have signed up.

Celebrity names are probably most important as a Sales and Marketing tool So it's easy to find thos names. Over on the Tesla blogs there are the occasional posters who say they have a car coming and people at Events sometimes say they have one on order. We have a few here: http://teslamotorsclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,68.0.html

As for who has what car #, that is a bit dodgy. Apparently when Tesla sold the first 100 in 4 weeks there was a lot of discussions about what car number buyers would get since there were people who wanted to be in the first 100 but missed it.

Tesla had to make another category in front of the Signature series called "The Founders Series" for the investors. Somehow when Arnold finally ordered his Roadster almost a year after his ride at the launch he got number 10 Signature. I heard someone got bumped (from them, jokingly) for the Governator and I also heard "there was an open space" (from Tesla)

Anyway, once the 30K/50K down payment started, then car numbering got weird. All 30K patient buyers really don’t have numbers since 50K purchasers can bump them.

And what about those that drop out of buying for various reasons like they don’t fit in the car, or like the handling when they get to start driving them in a few months or that the drop to a 200 miles is too much of a limitation, or buyers that can’t come up with the additional $$ when their number is up. (My wife who knows about such things guesses a 30 percent attrition). What happens to the numbering? Does everyone slide up or are “holes” filled?

Then there are the company’s Marketing (Press pool) cars, Engineering cars, and necessary up-front Dealership cars, how do they affect numbering?

Fill in what you know.

I guess I am just a data mining machine, so here are a few more for your list:

From http://www.teslamotors.com/blog3/index.php?p=40& :
"interview several of our prominent customers including CHRIS PAINE, who wrote and directed Who Killed the Electric Car."

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster :
# DENNIS HAYSBERT - Star of 24 and The Unit

Then there are those who had blog articles talking about their purchase:

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=51
# JON MITTELHAUSER - co-founded Netscape Communications will receive car #76

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=52
# STEPHEN CASNER, Fellow, Packet Design

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=32
# BOB BRESSLER, Owner of Bressler Vineyards

(By the way, Bob & Stephen show up on a lot of pages together as they both contributed to RFCs that led to the Internet that Jon helped popularize!
You are reading this courtesy of technology they helped develop!)

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=48
# Dr. ROB WILDER, CEO of WilderShares LLC

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=44
# JON FAIZ KAYYEM, PhD Managing Partner of Efficacy Capital Ltd

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog5/?p=37
# DON COX, Professor of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University

All of these people have had their ownership plans logged in public places, so I suppose it is fair game to list them, but why do we need to know?
Perhaps we should celebrate their achievements at having the wherewithal to buy one and the sense to see ahead of time the value in what Tesla is doing.

If they haven't already bought one they should:

* Al Gore (Green with a tan interior please)
* Bill Clinton (Red with a white interior please)
* Condoleezza Rice
* Cameron Diaz
* Tom Hanks (Is the eBox really enough?)
* Ed Begley, Jr. (just to piss off Bill Nye and Jay Leno!)
* Jay Leno (just to get back at Ed)
* Penelope Cruz (Just to get Tom Cruise to buy one too!)
* Darryl Hannah (To outdo Jackson Browne)
* Laurie David
* Larry David (don't curb that enthusiasm!)
* Neil Young (so you can wave to Martin as you drive past each other!)
* Bono
* Dave Matthews
* Jack White (to go with your Tesla coil)
* Jack Black
* David Bowie
* Mel Gibson
* Kevin Bacon
* Hulk Hogan
* Lisa Kudrow
* Ted Danson
* David Duchovny
* Woody Harrelson
* Will Ferrell
* Billy Joel
* David Hyde Pierce
* Brad Pitt
* Rob Reiner (Yes, it DOES got to 11!)
* Kurt Russell
* Tim Robbins (Is he taller than Martin?)
* Leonardo DiCaprio
* Marc Cuban (sorry the team won't fit...)
* Richard Branson (Well not for the UK, but maybe he needs one at the space port?)
* me (hey how did I get on this list?)

We need to celebrate these people, buy thier products, use their services, watch thier movies and TV shows. They are laying the foundation for the Whitestar and the new wave of EVs that we will all enjoy.

TEG beat me to the Buyers from the Tesla "Hear" blogs

Rumored:
Ted Turner (Telivision Maven)
O.J. Simpsom (Athlete, Actor, Murderer)
vfx While I have certainly described my "future" Roadster, (and I have a lot of high-powered EV connections) I think you are confusing me with our loquacious Tony Belding who wrote in Feb "I received confirmation today, I'm officially in line for a roadster. I'm going for the hard top, satellite radio and premium speakers, and Very Orange." and Today "For what it's worth, I am a 50K buyer..."

Owner
Dennis Haysbert (Actor (24))

Yes, I already said that before:

Oops! sorry. I will probably not check back to see what's been included. It will get too time consuming. Perhaps just giving perodic compelations to homoginize this list will suffice.

Also, we both listed Cameron Diaz, but she deserves to be on here twice. (Heck, she should buy 2)

Yes but mine had a link to a picture. Surely worth a re-mention for that!

Confirmations
"Some of the initial buyers include actor George Clooney, actor Dennis Haysbert, Jim Marver of VantagePoint Venture Partners, Jeff Skoll, formerly of eBay, as well as Martin Eberhard and Elon Musk"

Rankings: (Subject to change?)
"George Clooney’s : No. 8 on Tesla’s list."
"Arnold Schwarzenegger : No. 10."
"Will.i.am : No. 59."

"Allen Skolnick who owns a Ferrari recently bought a Tesla"

"Dean Kamen, New Hampshire's inventor king"..."said he has bought a Tesla, the 14th of these electric speedsters ever built"

From Greg Woulf : "I’m putting the money they’re after where my mouth is and I’m buying a Tesla Roadster."

Barry Skolnick (CAMBR CEO) and his CFO Don Ruggiero, a buyer of the (Tesla) electric car

Corinne from El Dorado Hills, CA: "I have one of those!" (Tesla crystal paperweight given to owners to be)

Sam from Orcas Island, WA: "I'm buying a Tesla and will be charging it from the solar system that is installed already in my home."

I don't see Michael Marks on the list. From Martin's blog, "Michael Marks is an early investor, a Signature 100 customer, and someone I have known and admired for many years." (I'm guessing he recently got bumped up on the list).

And I thought Elon got car #1 while Martin got car #2. There's a couple of interviews out there, which I can't find right now, where Mr. Musk mentions that.

While we're bringing up who should have a Roadster, how about Erin Esurance?
