    WhiteStar Cost-cutting

You guys do not know my background. I have spent almost 20 years in design and construction, and I have a well-earned suspicion of contractors. With much difficulty, I have managed to hire contractors for our kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom remodel, as well as the solar installation and roofing...

    WhiteStar Cost-cutting

My daily drive is typically a 2000 Toyota 4Runner. I am the one hauling the kids and their friends around, plus right now we need the hauling capacity for Home Depot runs. I am just about to start major renovations on one of the houses while doing some minor work on the other. I know I should...

    LID ON THE KETTLE?

Vacation? Ha Ha Ha. No way. The fact that the kids are away for three weeks, and I am still here should tell you something!

    Zap-X

Before investing in Zap, I would recommend reading the June 18, 2007, issue of Forbes. They did a review of Zap's business practices.

To vfx, based on what I know, you are close but not spot on. Keep trying! :)

    What color would you pick?

We received our "eggs" a couple of weeks ago. Each egg is painted one of the available exterior colors and is engraved with our car number. Included in the package were interior samples. We also received an invitation to attend a grand opening event in either LA or the Bay Area. Since the...

    Model 3

rph, I promise you that WhiteStar will not handle like a boat! Anyone who knows Martin and his crew know that performance is a critical function of any car that Tesla makes. Just check out some of Dave Vespremi's blogs on the Tesla website. Do you think that the Tesla engineers would be happy...

Tesla history articles for those writing a book

Re: More Oh my! How did I leave anyone with the impression I have free time? I have two small children who are busy in their own right (school, gymnastics, horseback riding, and soon to add swimming. Not to mention, they have busy social lives.). I also run two households which are 400 miles...

    Roadster Showings

For those of you in Southern California, the Roadster will be showing in Sierra Madre on Saturday, June 16th, from 9-12 am. Get your maps out to find Sierra Madre! It should be a good show, since it is such a small town. The car will be in Beverly Hills the next day at the Rodeo Drive Concours...

    What color would you pick?

If it makes you guys feel any better, I can assure you that Tesla quietly monitors this website. Your suggestions and comments do not go un-noticed.

    What color would you pick?

My two cents worth....The signature green is a gorgeous car, especially in the sunlight. In fact, last I heard, a certain someone I know was contemplating changing his color selection to the signature green after he saw it. I have not heard what his latest color selection is, so this may be old...

Tesla history articles for those writing a book

Re: More I should not speak for Marc, but that man is incredibly busy! He is currently CFO --AND-- VP of Electrical Engineering. Not to mention, he has a wife and kids with whom he enjoys spending time. Cut him some slack for not engaging with the press as much as Martin and others.

    What color would you pick?

I guess I need to get into the shop this weekend and look at the VPs. However, those cars have a better social life than I do, and I doubt any of them will be there. Why would they be home on a weekend like me?

Tesla history articles for those writing a book

Re: More Please be aware that I took so many exceptions to the Vanity Fair article that I would not let Martin read it. I would certainly hate to quote that article as accurate history. Those of us who have "taken the Tesla ride" all have our own versions of the story. ;)

Tesla history articles for those writing a book

Re: More Not quite a totally accurate history. It was Martin and Marc who started Tesla Motors. Ian was not in the picture in the very beginning. Six months after the company was founded, Ian asked Martin's advice for his presentation for an optical networking product company he was starting...

Electric Cars and Photovoltaic Solar Cells

You guys would be shocked to find out what we talk about! We are both engineers, and some of our conversations are AMAZINGLY boring to the average person. As I remember, our Saturday breakfast conversation was about the theory of relativity followed quickly with a discussion about the...

    The Competitive Landscape

To my knowledge, Tesla is only using one minor patent from ACP, and I am not sure how long they will be using that one. They had originally planned to use more of ACP's technology, but their designs were not scaleable for mass production. Therefore, it was back to the drawing board!
  24. CEOswife

    The Competitive Landscape

A couple of corrections. AC Propulsion is NOT selling drive trains to Tesla. Tesla makes their own using their own patents. Also, Martin waved huge sums of money at AC Propulsion with a request to make him a tzero. However, when ACP was unable to deliver the car, or any car for that matter, they...

Acc. to Autospies, whitestar to be designed by Henrik Fisker

Hmmm...The model and renderings that I have seen did not remind me of a BMW 5 Series, other than they both have wheels, doors, windscreen, trunk, etc. These spies must have access to better information than I have!

    Two Evs

The engineers at Tesla are well aware of this issue. Currently dual-Tesla owners will be required to program each car to begin charging at different times. They have been thinking of an automatic system where multiple Teslas can negotate for charging resources, but nobody is yet actually working...

    Laser Crystal Paperweight

No discussion about it at our house. My husband gets the Roadster, and I have to wait for the WhiteStar. The ony negotiation will be what number WhiteStar I get off the line.

    VP Revealed

The yellow one you are seeing is the one that underwent durability testing. It was still in such good shape after being tested, that Tesla had it shipped to the US. Last I heard, they are putting in a new battery pack and tuning it up for further testing in San Carlos.
