Quick Q, for tax, H _ R Block

Quick question,

• I bought my car in August 2019, how much credit should I get? $1875?
• When I file with H&R Block software, there's a line "Amount of tentative credit shown on IRS certification letter", should I use $3750 here or $1875? It's weird, looks like it automatically uses 25% of whatever I put here.

Wouldn't you put in $7,500 as the full credit amount and then let the software adjust that down to the $1,875 (25%) capped amount available to you due to the credit phase out for Tesla vehicles?

The credit amount is $1,875 irregardless of what the software is doing. You need to make sure it calculates it correctly as you are the one the IRS will be chasing not the IRS.
