Excellent. Really like the black leather, but not sure if tan or black would go better with the blue. Looking forward to your pics.

Personally, I love my choice of black leather seats. I was a little worried that all the cars had the light tan-like roof liner on the interior and that it wasn't an option to change. But I haven't been disappointed. I think black looks good longer - my last car had black leather seats and after 12 years, they still look great. Also, the pano roof blocks 81% of light and 98% of heat from the sun so that hasn't been an issue either.

Also, I chose the gloss obeche wood interior decor and that has been a great choice too. It has just a little gold color in it that helps to bring together the dark interior with the light tan-whatever roof liner.

Seven Days off The Forum - Only ONE thing could do that. A Model S in my driveway.

Three and One-Half Years in the Making:

I remember, when I was ten years old, waking on Christmas morning to find a stereo system under the tree – for me! Made of black and white plastic, Sears’ logo placed centrally on each air-light speaker, a needle that automatically lifted at the end of playing an album-side, it gave me a thrill to just look at it. And to listen was, well, life changing. From the very first album I bought myself – Frampton Come Alive – to the hundreds that would follow, my day-to-day life was newly infused with as much joy as an inanimate object could give.

Jump ahead 37 Christmases. Sunday December 16th, 2012.
I got a new stereo again, but this one came with a car.
Amos calls from the road, noting his Horseless Carriage, an 80-foot truck, will be arriving in 15 minutes. They are early. In fact, somehow, after waiting 1,230 days – Tesla is ahead of schedule.

Deposit August 2, 2009.

December 14th: Your car is on a truck and arriving at your house in Massachusetts the day after tomorrow.”

December 16th: 9am delivery, Amos arrives at 8:55am. Early.

The car has certainly not disappointed and, much like that first stereo, gives me a thrill to just see it taking in kWh in the garage. Many great little moments in the seven days since:

First drive – just a few quick miles, to a friends’ house, whose eleven-year old child runs from the house and jumps (dives, actually) on the hood of the car. And then rolls around. OK. Nice start. Aluminum holding up well in mile three.

At home, I hand my daughter the key, who promptly puts in up in her room, thanking me for the toy.

Thirsty. Pull into a Shell Station, next to the pump, and walk in to get a drink. Guy hops out of his pickup, runs over and says, “Is that a TESLA?”
“Yes”, I reply.
“Well what the hell is it doing here?!” He laughs, thrilled. Me too.

Buying ski stuff for the kids.
The guy insists on carrying everything to the car for me.
“Is THAT a…Tesla?”
Guy loves cars, knows all-about Tesla.
I hand him the key and put him in the drivers seat.
At this point, anyone who does not roll on the hood can drive the car.

Buying some kitchen gifts. I open the frunk to keep the gifts out of sight.
“Woa, did you see THAT?” a college student asks his friends, staring into the void where an engine should be. “Wait…is that a Tesla? Hey, that’s a Tesla!”

Mike is unsure about buying a Tesla. New company. Expensive. How will you charge it? EV Class 101 – you know what I am talking about. Needs a urinary catheter for his range anxiety. I hand him the key and he asks me if the car will look just like that when it comes. I remind him this is not Spinal Tap playing Stonehenge and that, although the key may be in danger of being trod upon by a dwarf, the car is in the parking lot outside the office, and is not. We silently hit 75 on a truck delivery ramp, and he believes, even without the urinary catheter.

What a blast: To drive for the sake of enjoying the car. To be in a car that, at once:

Has incredible acceleration – faster on day two of ownership with the V4.0 update.
Has the lowest center of gravity.
Has the lowest coefficient of drag.
Is the most fuel-efficient.
Is the safest sedan.
Seats five and has more storage space than our SUV.
Is whisper quiet, Roaring Fast.
Is the envy of all I see.
Gets better with every software update.
Allows me to never go to a gas station again.
Is the new paradigm in driving.

Best of all, I have a new stereo. And It goes to Eleven.
Not quite as special as that first, plastic stereo from Sears, but the same thrill.

And, yes, for those still waiting delivery, waiting to design, quivering over the MVPA, or just debating whether to put down the deposit – yes, it has been worth every bit of it.
Tesla Model S. Just Drive It.

In daily use for a family of five – and a lab - Model S 1845 is home.
And so say we: “Tesla Into America!” (one last Spinal Tap reference, of course).

Will post pics below and more asap. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!

Delivery at last, 22 DEC.

Brief history:

Initial reservation 28 March, 2009, eventually assigned P232/VIN 1772

Options:
85kWh Battery
Body Color Roof
21" Wheels
Tan Leather/Black accent
Tech
Sound Studio
Active Air
Parcel Shelf (Still waiting)
Twin Chargers

Everyone has said the wait was well worth it and I can concur. I also second guessed whether to get the Pano roof or not and for now, no regrets. We'll see when Summer comes around. The car arrived with 29 miles and 4.0 software. I already received a notification for the next version and it should install tonight.

Because of the long wait, I was itching to take it on the road after my DS informed me of the new East Coast Super Chargers. 2.5 days and 792 miles later, I can attest the car is a great daily driver and long distance cruiser. Once the I-95 corridor is completely covered, this will be the only way I travel. Free fuel = happiness

The delivery experience was great as well. I can't say enough about Andrew Clark. He was very patient and thoroughly explained everything about the car. I had not driven a model S until mine was delivered but I have no issues with the car or performance. It truly is amazing how quickly you adjust and learn the vehicle.

I had a few software "bug" issues during my initial trip. Things like: the drivers handle failed to extend when approaching the car, the nav voice not working, day/night screen settings not auto adjusting. I worked with the ownership experience folks and the walked me through a system reset which quickly resolved all issues.

Again, I cannot get over the look, feel, and driving dynamics of the car. It is certainly the pinnacle of autos I have had the pleasure of owning!

One last thing, if you have't tried out the super chargers yet, get on the road and experience the freedom! You'll never look back!
