    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I have not really noticed a difference. We took the car on a ~500 mile trip from Baltimore to Columbia, SC to drop my daughter at USC (go Gamecocks!) last July and supercharged every 150-200 miles w/o issue.

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Life has gotten in the way of me actively participating in the forum, but I thought an update was due from a longtime owner. My last maintenance update was the fall of 2016 and since then there have been two issues (aside from routine seasonal tire swaps and replacements) - both repairs were...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I really never got specific details. The car initially would not let me drive - all kinds of alerts presented on the dash - it then mysteriously cleared. I took it in and they deemed it an "internal high voltage battery" issue and specifically stated it was not the same contactor fault related...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I thought I would summarize my experience with the car after passing 4 years of ownership and nearly 140k miles. I modeled this after @artsci's post back in November. Thanks Rick!!! Range: A 100% charge yields 244-246 miles - a 7.5% decline. I supercharged twice weekly for two years when...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Guessing same...just no detail on the paperwork and I didn't ask. I'll make an inquiry when I'm in later this month to do my seasonal tire swap.

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Correct - bushing issue was identified when my battery was reinstalled. No cost on the batter. Grateful for 8 year unlimited mile warranty.

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Quick update... My refurbished battery was reinstalled on 10/21 (it was actually back in September but delayed replacement due to my schedule) @ 132k miles. There were no details on the service order as to what was done to it. While in for the battery work, front right bushing showed some play...

Very sad... Fatality in a Model S on the 405

Ditto here. Not my words and not an exact quote, but fitting... When a child loses a parent, they are orphaned. When an adult loses a spouse, they are widowed. There are no words for someone losing a child.

I drive spiritedly and have high mileage - nothing extreme otherwise.

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

You know I am committed - ~120k miles at time of incident - ~122k today. If replaced, this will be the second time - first HV battery replaced was at 11k miles. I did have an issue about a year ago (would need to check details) that resulted in some internal components of the battery being...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Ruh-roh Shaggy... Main HV battery issues back on 6/7 that initially presented themselves as a barrage of 12V battery and other assorted alerts (car may not start, service now, etc.). The battery has been sent to Cali for repair and I have been using a loaner battery for the majority of the...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

Hmm... I will have to go back and look at the details. I had a pad rubbing in an odd way that literally started as I was driving in for service & summer tire rotation. At a minimum, they had one pad/rotor to address and I opted to just do all of them. Apologies for not giving those details...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I can tell you my emotions were running high. I tried to be positive in what I wrote - kinda my outlook on life - but definitely not happy to have paid out this $3.9k and the previous $1k (door handle) shortly after crossing 100k miles (I had the extended service and warranty). I would have...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I had a number of things addressed earlier this month and it could have been really ugly had my service center (Rockville MD) not been such a great business partner. Here's the story... When I was away on an extended trip last August, the air suspension dropped in the rear such that the car...

    OMG: digitaltim’s delivery story…

I have generally kept cars an average of 8 years except for when my wife and I both bought 2-door coupes a couple of years before we had kids - not so smart and those cars only last 4 and 6 years respectively. That said, I am planning to keep it 8 years while it is still under warranty for the...

Houston we have a problem... I had a few things that needed to be addressed and this was my first "out of warranty" visit the SC so I thought I would post an update. Details (@109k miles - all dollars parts & labor): - busted passenger sideview mirror (don't ask how) $400 - TPMS failure - 2...

    100,000+ Mile Club

I posted earlier but want to add some observations I am seeing regarding range. The general gist is I see consumption per the trip kWh display that is much less than I would have been expected to be consumed given a nearly full depletion of the battery. For example, roll in after a day of...

    Sharing of Referral success stories

One inadvertent referral before 10/31. An industry colleague was talking to me about the car and their interest in possibly buying one. We never discussed the referral program but the Tesla store told them about it when they went for a test drive. They called me that night for my referral...

Will Supercharging shorten the battery life?

I supercharged twice weekly for 2+ years. I range charge M-F to 252 miles which is a ~4.9% loss of range if you want to believe the numbers. 103k miles on the odometer. I would not worry about it.

    Thinking of getting a Tesla

My lease versus buy analysis on higher end cars puts the lease option ahead financially but that may be undermined by the tax credit for new purchases. That said, I would have considered a lease when I got my Sig if they have been offered solely for the ease of upgrading to the latest and...

    Anyone finance here?

NPV the cashflows of buy versus finance and you will have the answer that makes the most financial sense. However, if you don't want to be cash poor and buying outright would deplete too much of your liquid assets, financing (given the low rates) makes a lot sense.

Cars, drivers that consistently (and foolishly) want to challenge the Model S

While I have spanked nearly everyone that has challenged me (when safe to do so ;-) ), I was recently spanked in our neck of the woods.
