[Europe] Twin-charger: how does it work, and will it support 3-phase?

Today i spoke to HQ product Specialist Timothee Rischmann. He could on the phone confirm:

- with singelcharger on board you can from an 230v 3-phase 32A outlet Max 10kw. (Limited by the charger)
If you want to use the rest of the outlet capasity (2,7kw) you have to have the twincharger.

- then you will use 10 kw for the first charger and 2,7kw for the second one. If you have an 50A outlet, you will get the Max capasity of 20 kw.

Still waiting for a email-reply from him regarding the Max charging speed with 1-phase 230v ( hope for 32A).

Again, I recommend reading this thread: Europe: Future Charging for Model S 1-phase or 3-phase? (Part 2)

A lot has been discussed there already.

I agree. This thread should be closed and/or merged with that one.

I believe this as well. Cannot provice my sources, but 32a one phase with single charger is what I`ve heard. And double that with twin chargers.

16a with single charger is a joke when the battery is 85kWh. Even the 24kWh Leaf can now be delivered with 32a charger....

Precisely

And the largest Renault, the Fluence, can only charge on 16A single phase. Not much consistency there. Also I think the Zoe can only charge at >16A with three-phase, I do not think 32A single phase will work.

Is my understanding that the Fluence Z.E. MY2014 will equip the Chaméleon charger from the Zoé, supporting up to 63 A and 43 kW.

That does not make much sense for me... I thing he may have confusing data. We should wait a few days to the press release with the final specs.

ZOE has been tested 6A to 32A single phase.

Furthermore, I was told it can deal with 63 A even at single phase.

So much frustration now over at the Norwegian forum over lack of official specs for EU chargers. In particular, the two questions of (a) will 230V 3-phase charging be supported (being a Norwegian oddity in the European context) and (b) what is the max amperage for single-charger charging.

More than enough rumors and even statements (sometimes conflicting) from various Tesla reps, but when you are ordering the car and paying Norwegian prices for rewiring the garage, you want to know that you are getting it right...

Absolutely... If the cars are at the moment being manufactured we should get the final specs now.
