2016 Model S Refresh Mega-thread

Huh. If that's the new S nose, I wonder what the plan is for a car without power?

The old S had you prying off the nosecone to reach the remote terminals, which obviously wouldn't work without a nose cone. They'd have to do something like the X, I suppose.

I was wondering about the tow hook and the 12V terminals this morning in the shower.

Yes, my DS confirmed the same information that was e-mailed to me by Tesla this morning: Nosecone and LED headlights will be included at no additional charge.

Still unsure if we'll be getting the extra charging speed and automatic rear liftgate.

Ok cool, I haven't seen an email from them confirming that yet, but curious that they said you'll get piano black dash over the new standard wood, that would be my preference so hoping same for me.

Just received this email from my DS:

You will receive the new premium upgrades package in replacement of the premium interior package that your ordered. The standard amperage now for the onboard charger is 48 amps. The new refresh should be available for viewing on your MyTesla by the end of next week.

So, looking at today's renouncement, and WestCoastP85D's scoop (picture) above, I take it we all now agree this is a picture of the new hidden nose? Or do we still have naysayers?

Also, what's with the announcement of "new faster charging"?

My "classic" Model S charges at 80 amps. The most a new one will charge at (excluding SC and Chademo) is 72 amps. That's slower -- not faster. I know that 48 amps is now standard as opposed to 40 amps but anyone interested in "faster charging" will get the upgrade, and now it's slower -- not faster.

I really like the new front end but no AP 2.0 and 100 kWh battery is disappointing, as is dumping the piano black. Despite the great new look, I think I will hold off on upgrading for AP 2.0 and larger battery (and slower charging!).

I had this very same question so I shot an e-mail to my delivery specialist. My delivery specialist just confirmed (2 minutes ago) that piano black decor would come with my car, even though it's no longer an option in the design studio. To change anything there would be a $500 fee on top of the new book price (a $1500 increase).

I ordered my car on 3-29-16 and confirmed on 4-5-16.
hope you are correct, I ordered yesterday morning anticipating the price increase. I put down a July delivery but I might bump it up. Who knows maybe I'll leave it since things just keep on getting added monthly

While I doubt it was the intent, if the 48 amp charger gets more people to order the HPWC, all the better. In my opinion, having a cord on the wall is just an all around better experience than having to use a mobile charge cord.

They should bring back the piano black. It was probably cheap to make. However, the Dark Ash looks pretty sharp -- that's new, isn't it?

@brianman -- tell us more about this shower you took. :p

I should probably avoid this thread at this point. Gonna make me super sad with my now obsolete December 2015 car. Lol! Man these upgrades are getting expensive...
I got lucky! Got an email saying I get the upgrades!! I guess I DO lead a charmed life like my father always said!

Today is a GREAT day#

Please be considerate of the feelings of others who missed out.

A "charmed life" can, unfortunately, be changed in an instant. Then once GREAT stuff, like getting new unexpected options on your car, will seem so frivolous and trivial in comparison. Life has a way of putting things in perspective, especially when people get too cocky.

I remained appreciative of my non-autopilot S when auto-pilot came out but if I happened to have got it, and others did not, I never would have rubbed it in.

My intent was definitely not to "rub it in". My apologies.

I just priced out a P90D with all the options I want then I thought I should make my house payment instead. I've owned my 13 S P85 for one month and since then Model 3 and S refresh has occurred..not sure how to feel o_O...but just telling myself I got a kick ass car for a good deal makes me feel much better.

Clearly the picture doing the rounds is CG.

Why no real pictures, why the delay from the announced price increase until today, why does the interior of the design studio not have door bins?

I know they've been busy with the 3, but I can't help but feel we are going to see unexpected "ramp up" problems. It just smells like there have been some delays behind the scenes.

Same boat here, and I'm feeling great. It's still an awesome car. The latest updates just mean in a number of years when you are ready to switch cars again, there will be new and better options on the used market to consider (need those new features now so that used cars a few years from now will have them).

On a side note -- when I tried the new design studio, it wouldn't show the pano roof when selected. Possibly another bug for them to fix.

I'm strongly considering converting my purchase into a lease given the rapidity of all these changes! Wasn't even considering it but when you look at what a Model S was 3 years ago? I think the itch will be too strong 3 years from now!
