These are not being booked as revenue - the journal entries are (1) 2.5K to cash (2) same to a deposit liability. Deposits have no impact on reported revenue or earnings... come on now.

They're not producing 7K cars a week now, for the US market. At all. There's 3 or 4 ships leaving SF every week for either China or Europe, with, say, 1,500-1,800 cars per ship. And Bloomberg is projecting they've been producing about 5,800 cars a week this quarter. So that leaves maybe 1,000...

Guys, it's already been stated that the Y will have the exact same battery pack as the 3 (just as the X has the same as the S), in fact it will have the exact same drive train/options. Even further, it will have 75% approx the same parts as the 3. It's basically exactly the same car as the 3...

Definitely not. There's no 35K model S, that's the model 3. Also, if you order today, you get priority if you have a prior reservation. With an "early number" reservation, you might get your car in 2-4 weeks, but with no reservation you've got a whole lot of people ahead of you in line.

In fact, wealthy people never ever go to car dealerships. They hire people to go for them and to deal with the sales people. When the service you "offer" is so universally hated that your most valuable customers will pay people just to avoid dealing with you... you know you're ripe for disruption.

Hope some of the laid off sales people can be rehired in service.

Would be interesting to hear from reservation holders in Europe. Apparently, Tesla is now reaching out to invite people to at least come see the car in the showrooms/dealerships. I assume in cities like Oslo, Paris, Amsterdam, etc. Any sense out there of when the first people in Europe will be...

I could be wrong, but I actually don't think Tesla is able to control how cars flow in and out of rail yards. I think that's more at the discretion of the railways and whoever operates those yards.

They are able to fix significant panel misalignment right there while you wait? In just 15 minutes? Is this normal at other delivery centers?

This makes the most sense as explanation!

It's weeks since production was restarted after the brief shutdown (only 3-4 days?) and there's obviously been a ton of new VINs awarded, some close to the 30K mark, according to Bloomberg. However, we haven't seen a lot of new invites to configure lately, and no new threads for May invites...

I think that's a distinction without a difference, since Tesla in any case isn't in the business of parking and storing cars, they're in the business of selling them. Once their delivery centers in CA can no longer get total daily production delivered, they need to send them elsewhere.

Depends on the ramp-up. Once they're producing 2,000, roughly, per week, limiting to only CA deliveries wouldn't be practical. There's only so many delivery centers and they have limited capacity. Better to send the production out across the country to make sure you're not just producing for...

Still, with lots of invites going out now to non-CA owners, I would think the CA owners should be mostly taken care of, so this poll is probably no longer updating...
