When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

I’ve read that the new Autopark is based on FSD v12 code, but 2024.8.x still uses FSD v11, so you probably won’t get Autopark until you get FSD v12. No one knows when 2024.8.x or newer builds will get FSD v12.

Spotify Bitrate - Premium Connectivity vs Hotspot

If you only care about streaming music, that works. If you want any other Premium Connectivity features (traffic display, satellite view, Sentry live camera, etc.) the hotspot won't do it for you.

Software Stack diff - AP (TACC & AutoSteer) vs FSD

Totally agree, not sure why Tesla decided to do it that way. I've noticed that when using the new auto speed offset option, the minimal lane change option doesn't do much, and the car will change lanes to get around slower traffic. It should still help on the highway, but even there, sometimes...

Software Stack diff - AP (TACC & AutoSteer) vs FSD

Correct, but my point was that people who have FSD are probably not going to switch between FSD and Autosteer very often, so they're not going to notice the differences between FSD and non-FSD Autosteer. Even if they do switch, the Autosteer they have is the one from EAP with Auto Lane Change...

The screenshot is from the Tesla earnings deck, but everything else is speculation at this point.

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

Which “latest firmware” do you have? I have 2024.3.15 on one car and 2024.3.20 on the other, both HW4 without USS, and Autopark works on both.

Software Stack diff - AP (TACC & AutoSteer) vs FSD

Basic AP is not meant for use on suburban local roads. It’s not surprising that basic AP and FSD use different stacks, since people are going to use one or the other, but not both. Maybe someday they’ll use the same code. Even FSD uses different code on the highway than it uses on city streets...

Windshield replacement is getting out of hand - cracks...

We’ve owned 5 Teslas over the last 8 years (three S’s, a 3, and a Y), and never had to replace a windshield in any of them. I suppose it depends on where you drive.

Spotify Bitrate - Premium Connectivity vs Hotspot

Yes, Premium Connectivity features will work even with a hotspot. Unless the difference in audio quality is really noticeable, it seems like more trouble than it’s worth.
  14. EVRider-FL

Spotify Bitrate - Premium Connectivity vs Hotspot

You won’t be able to use Premium Connectivity features unless you pay for Premium Connectivity, even with a hotspot. Regardless of the bitrate, can you actual hear a difference using the built-in app vs. streaming via Bluetooth? If not, why worry about it? Bluetooth has limitations too, so...

Try rebooting, and if that doesn’t work, have the car serviced. Does the cabin camera work normally in daylight?

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

From further reading, resetting the cloud profile deletes it, but that won't delete your Tesla account or impact which account is associated with the car, and it won't likely impact the ability to do a Factory Reset. What I wish Tesla would do is let you remove the cloud profile from a...

    Should I pull the trigger?

I think most people have already decided to pull the trigger by the time they ask the forum. Enjoy your new car! 🙂

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Your cloud profile will disappear as soon as the car is no longer associated with your account. My car is on the FSD trial, and I confirmed that Factory Reset is disabled for me too. I tried disabling FSD but it made no difference. My wife’s car has FSD purchased and Factory Reset is enabled there.

One FSD to Rule them All!

Maybe I should have said technically feasible. Tesla designed their cars to interface with their AP technology, and we don’t know how difficult that interface would be for other automakers to adopt. There’s also the question of whether another automaker would be willing to move forward based on...

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Factory Reset is the way to go, not sure why it’s greyed out. Is the car connected to WiFi? Do you have your phone key? Funny story: when we traded in my wife’s Model 3 to Tesla, I tried to do a Factory Reset first (even though Tesla will do it). You have to enter your Tesla account credentials...

Where are the new fsd versions?

Our HW4 2023 MY got 2024.3.20 a couple of days ago. Our 2023 HW4 MS is still on 2024.3.15. AP4 is the same as HW4. All 2024 cars have it.
  24. EVRider-FL

One FSD to Rule them All!

That was three years for a highly motivated automaker, so most likely longer than that. We won’t know if it’s technically doable until someone actually does it.

free trial of FSD; questions galore

It’s my understanding that the free trial uses FSD v12, which is not yet available in the 2024.8.x branch. I don’t know if there’s a time limit for the free trial promotion, but if not, you’ll get it whenever FSD v12 makes it to the 2024.8.x branch and that build is pushed to your car. You’ll...

Driver profiles -- still crazy after all these years

I've been a Tesla owner for 8+ years. In late 2016, Tesla added the ability to associate driver profiles with key fobs, and eventually, phone keys. Despite how long we've had this feature, it's never worked reliably in my experience. Here's our current setup: My car is a 2023 Model S, which my...

    How define spot for parking?

I came across this tidbit when reading about Autopark in the manual: "The parking space must have at least three visible lines for the vehicle to park into, such as parking lines, road markings, or distinct curbs. Autopark may not work in a garage, for example, without three visible parking...

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

I meant disable it when you want to use TACC. You said you like EAP and you paid $6k for it — why wouldn’t you buy it for $2k now?

    Model Y or 3 Highland?

Another consideration for the Y: it’s currently the only Tesla car/SUV still made with stalks and a traditional wheel. Make sure you drive the new 3 before you decide.

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

I think I heard correctly and the transcript is wrong. I’ve seen other reports that confirm what I thought I heard, and that Elon is the one who said no.

    Model Y or 3 Highland?

Haven’t driven the Highland, but we replaced a 2018 Model 3 with a 2023 Model Y last year, and have no regrets. We especially like the higher seating and quieter ride. You could use the BMW for hauling stuff and road trips, but if you get the Y you won’t have to. 🙂
  35. EVRider-FL

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

You can have that even if you buy FSD, just disable it when you don’t want to use it. If you never want to use it, then save your money. 🙂 However, keep in mind that if you don’t buy FSD, you won’t be able to transfer EAP/FSD to a new car, and you won’t be able to buy just EAP for your new car...
  36. EVRider-FL

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

I agree. Last time I bought FSD I paid $3k for my 2018 Model S and $2k for my wife’s 2018 Model 3 (both cars had EAP). At that time FSD didn’t really add anything of value above EAP so it was just an investment. We were able to transfer FSD from my wife’s M3 to her new MY last year, but I bought...

    FSD 12.3.4, 2023 model Y performance

Try Chill and let us know how it works for you. I wouldn’t use FSD in a neighborhood like yours. Mine is similar and I don’t use FSD here. Too risky. Just because you can use FSD anywhere doesn’t mean you should.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI) Highway mode?

    I doubt anyone here knows.
  39. EVRider-FL

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Not a free built-in, but no longer available as a separate upgrade. The only upgrade is FSD.

It might have been Lars who replied, but I heard no. I stand corrected, unless others heard the same.

FSD 12.3.4 Highway exits still terrifying

I think FSD v11 is still used on the highway, so I don’t think this behavior is new to FSD v12. I have experienced this issue either.
  42. EVRider-FL

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

I’ll probably bite the bullet when my free FSD trial ends soon, since I would likely subscribe from time to time. During yesterday’s Tesla earnings call, someone asked if Tesla would continue the FSD transfer promotion while FSD is still evolving, and Elon said no.

    FSD(s) vs a paper bag...

That is impressive. Even if you didn’t remember to save the video, the dashcam should have the last hour of video, so it might still be there.
  44. EVRider-FL

Why does FSD keep changing lanes all the time?

You can set the speed if you don’t use the auto speed setting, but the car won’t go at that speed in many cases even if it’s safe to do so. I started using the auto setting because it works better for me.
  45. EVRider-FL

Supervise self driving goes too close

The manual says it isn’t a button, but if it is, I wish Tesla had made that the way to enable/disable AP, which would have been more intuitive. The manual describes that control as an “identifier that is always illuminated to indicate that the right scroll wheel can be used with cruise control.”...

I’ve had 3 Model S’s in the US, and none of them had visible holes for the front license plate bracket, just adhesive.
  47. EVRider-FL

Why does FSD keep changing lanes all the time?

Depending on which model you have, you can access the Minimal Lane Changes option by pressing the right scroll wheel left or right. This also changes the following distance profile (Chill, Average, Assertive). Note that Minimal Lane Changes doesn’t eliminate all unnecessary lane changes, but it...

Does $2k upgrade from EAP to FSD include upgrading CW 2.5 to FSD computer for free?

I responded in the other thread you started, but there’s no reason not to upgrade to HW3 because it won’t cost anything and it will improve your FSD experience. The app might have stopped showing the HW3 upgrade because it’s no longer something you have to pay for.
