waarom is een tesla leasen zo duur? (in België)

topic says it all :)

SC gas lighting - look at this

What started as a very minor clicking sound half a year ago, and thousands of dollars and numerous visits to the SC (temecula ca) has become unrelenting much worse suspension noises.

At every step of the way they've gaslit me saying these are normal sounds or that they dont even hear it. Sometimes when I am sitting IN the car with them they will say they dont hear anything when it's as clear as day. After this last encounter with them, they told me how lucky I am that they didnt charge me over half a grand to torque some fore link bolts that were NOT torqued down. Mind you NOBODY has touched these bolts other than Tesla when they installed them a few months ago! They said I need to live with these sounds as they are "minor" and "not concerning or unusual".

Fed up with the incompetence I took off the front wheel where the noise was coming from, and simply shook the suspension (BY HAND) and FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE (in the video)!!!! Absolutely appalling the level of incompetence and despicable attitude towards their customers. It is clear why Tesla is in trouble. Sorry for the rant but I've never seen this level of disdain for their custom as well as incompetence from any company I've ever dealt with. Login to view embedded media

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

It's been sort of a given that Elon Musk's association with the Tesla brand has both positive and negative connotations, but over the last couple of years it seems to have heavily tilted towards the negative. He seems to spend more time operating in tilt mode than he ever has. It all seemed to take a dark turn when he boasted about buying twitter. Since then it's been a real shizenpantz show.

As an owner of a couple of Tesla vehicles, I initially was willing to ignore some of his stupidity. Now I'm not so sure. Knowing what I know now I would not purchase a Tesla. My fear is that he will end up blowing it all, sacrificing any and all good will and market leadership that Tesla currently enjoys, and eventually will kill the company dead.

I think the final straw for me was the recent layoffs. From the outside looking in it is obvious there was no plan. It was just him and his emotional cannon going off. There is no way in hades that any of this can have a positive spin to it.

It really appears that this guy should not even be left in charge of his own life, much less a multi-billion dollar company.

Thoughts?

Yes, I know this will bring out the Musk fanboys, but if you look at him and what he's doing frankly and objectively, you may come away as alarmed as I currently am.

Backwards tire?

I'm not a tire expert here but have a question.
Three of my newly mounted Ion Evo AS tires have been mounted with the date stamp on the outside, and the front left has been mounted with the date code on the inside. I know that the tires are non-directional, but would the odd mounted tire make a difference to handling or tire wear? Maybe they did it to hide the fact that it my have been a newer or older dated tire. As it is - the three that are showing are dated 4122 which would mean that they were manufactured October of 2022.

Cracked roof, any chance it's covered under warranty?

IMG_8357.jpeg

I discovered my 23 MYLR roof is cracked. Three questions:
Is there any safety risk if I continue driving this for a while (see below)?
Any chance this is covered under Tesla's warranty or should I just move ahead with an insurance claim with AAA?
Is it important/essential to get this repaired by Tesla and not someone in AAA's "glass network"?

The situation is slightly complicated by the fact that I'm leaving in two days to drive from California to Maine where we'll stay for 6 months. First available SC appointment (in Massachusetts, 2 1/2 hours from our house in Maine) is 5/31.

Thanks for any advice.

p.s. I'm virtually certain the crack is unrelated to the roof rack. Tesla installed the rack and it's easy to see that there is at least 1/16" of clearance between the base of the rack and the glass. I know sometimes these can be installed poorly and impinge on the glass, but I don't believe that's what's going on here.

Coffee Spill and the Center Console

Hello

This morning, my coffee took a tumble in the center cup holders and overflowed into the center console, right over the usb-c ports.

I'm an overthinker so I thought it'd be better just to ask -

  • Do you guys think it'd cause any damage to the vehicle, or are there safeguards wherein damage to a port won't affect the entire vehicle?
  • I have an appointment when mobile service next week. Is it likely they'd replace the usb-c ports? If so, has anyone ever seen the charge for that type of service?
  • Lastly, I didn't see it get under the seats. But would the mechanism that allows the seats to move forward and backward be protected from liquid damage?
Thanks for your time

Highland: position side mirrors further out to cover blindspot

Took a test drive this week, mix of amazing and frustrating at the same time.

One issue I can't get get over is not being able to extend mirrors out to cover blind spot (drivers and passenger side). First car I've every driven that doesn't have this adjustment. Even weirder is you can hyper extend mirrors inwards to apparently checkout your front door but not extend outwards to where mirrors should be set in my 30 years of driving experience. Curious if anyone has been able to adjust mirrors to point further outwards without resorting to after market concave mirrors. Sales guy said Tesla service had helped someone in the past to do something similar. And not interesting in blind spot LED lighting up on speaker, I'd like to see cars around me for spatial awareness not look at an LED to determine driving behaviour.

24.4.0 Gateway crashes

Anyone else experiencing a lot more Gateway 2 crashes with 24.4.0? My system is almost three years old, but recently I've been seeing a lot of Gateway reboots. Normally this only happens when there's a new firmware install (or the rare lockup), but now I'm seeing them every few days. Very strange and not totally noticeable since it auto-recovers.

Posting dates and times in case some pattern emerges.

Going from 2024.3.25 to 2024.14.x

Hi all. I couldn’t find the answer, so I’m hoping someone could explain how updates work with so many branches. I’m on 2024.3.25 in a ‘23 MYLR but I like many of the updates in the latest 2024.8.x branch (one time charge limit, wiper fluid anywhere along the wipe, new directional arrows, etc.) Once I get the 2024.14.x update, will it also include all the updates on the 2024.8.x branch? TIA

How many service visits in 6 months of ownership is too many before asking for a buyback

I am at number 9 including 7 SC and 2 mobile. Most of them for issues related to alignment of doors and trim and one issue where car sat 9 days in service waiting for steering rack sensor replacement.

Latest though is too much - SC did an exceptionally shoddy rear quarter window replace even though I asked them not to (due to FWD rubbing off a bit of the window trim) and now they tell me they need to fix my window perimeter paint chips from using likely a metal tool and the black goo gunk they applied to “seal” the window (not at all like factory which uses hidden urethane) that they have to make an appointment at a body shop.

Lemon law (NJ) time or buyback request before that? I’m fed up with these incessant service visits. Poor shoddy quality in every one except maybe 1-2 of them.

Autopilot locked

Hello, I tried to find related threads, but without any chance. I bought Model 3 9/2019 (long range) from second hand, and I dont have an basic autopilot. Tell me please why? Unfortunately, I cannot contact previous owner as he is from different country (Netherland). I asked my friend, who bought brand new Model 3 in 7/2019 (standard range) and he told me, that there wasnt option to choose if he want autopilot or not, autopilot was default included in package. So, how it possible, that my Tesla doesnt has an basic autopilot? I also couldnt find answer in the google. I already contacted Tesla servis, but they respond that basic autopilot is not included in my package. Im little confused, how it couldnt be included, when autopilot is default included. I checked in my Tesla any information and I can see that autopilot is there (screenshots sttached). Is it possible that previous owner locked autopilot? or it was in Netherland law that it should be locked in this year (2019) or something? Please try to explain it. Thank you in advance.

Charging two Teslas

We have one model 3 and are thinking of ordering another. To my surprise it seems Tesla does not have any solutions for charging two Teslas simultaneously (this would be an incentive to buy two Teslas rather than from different brands). The only way is manually moving the cable from one to the other. I had hoped you could connect both to a charger at the same time, and then some software could manage the charging (first charge one, then other other when the first is charged etc). Are there any such solutions?

We also have a Tesla powerwall and use the 'charge on solar,' and we would like to continue using that, so if it were a third party solution it would have to work with 'charge on solar.'

  • Question
2024 M3 no stalks. How initiate TACC?

Owned M3 5 days. My attempts to get the TACC to work have failed. The tesla website only describes earlier M3 (with stalks).

Nothing I can find in the car data describes all the features of the steering wheel buttons etc (except turn signals and
speaker volume). The stuff by right hand hardly mentioned at all.

So ... How to get TACC to work? Is it buried somewhere in the car information or ?
TIA for any help.

Are Teslas talking to each other?

In an ideal world, all these FSD cars talking to each other would be the best way to ensure that the intentions of each car is clearly expressed to others on the road.

That being said, the reason I raised this topic is because I was driving on FSDs yesterday through the slow rush hour traffic, and typically the car keeps at least a car length of space ahead. But yesterday, there was a new Model Y ahead of me, and my car on FSDs was driving like 2 feet behind it as if my car was linked like a train. It was either that sure and confident that moment in time or it was clearly in-sync with the car ahead of me. What say you?

Model S refresh lifted without jackpads at local shop - battery damaged on edges OK?

Hello model s’perts (experts)!

Just had a local tire shop fix a bad mount and balance job. During lift, they didn’t use pucks and the edges of the lift did some apparently minor damage to the surface of the battery edge.

if it’s just superficial, then I am not worried about it. There are small indents in battery edges in a few areas next the jacking pads;

However I also know the battery internals are not located at this point.

Just wanted to get any expert thoughts if there are any Tesla techs or others with similar experience.

Thank you!

USS support disabled at end of FSD demo [false alarm - setting in menus to turn on]

It appears that USS support has been disabled after termination of the FSD demo.

I have a 2022 MYLR with 2024.3.25 firmware and not only are the distance measurements gone but the screen now has those gosh awful mashed potato blobs all over it. I want my USS back!

On the plus side, the car avatar has had its rear brake light enhanced so you can now see when it lights up.

Positive Service Experience!

As ever on forums, people are quick to post problems and issues they are having, which can be off putting to potential buyers.

So just to redress the balance, I thought I’d post about my recent experience with Tesla service.

Yesterday my 2018 Model S failed its MOT because the near side headlight was not properly aligned. The MOT place tried to adjust using the built in system but still couldn’t align it properly so the car failed.

I returned home at lunchtime and logged a service request on the app. Within 30 minutes, the car was booked in for ranger service on Monday 6 May. Along with the estimate to fix at £35.60. This all made me very pleased.

A little later I got a further communication saying that as the car had failed the MOT it would have to come to the workshop instead. I was offered a “while you wait” appointment at 09.00 this morning at Leeds Service Centre, which is my local service centre. Naturally I took this up.

The process dropping car off was painless and it took about 2 hours to fix. The problem was that the adjuster had come off the ball joint, so was not actually adjusting anything. Nevertheless they stood by their estimate of £35.60 which, I think, was based on them being able to sort out through the screen.

The hardest part of the process was resisting the offer of a test drive in a Highland, I know myself too well and can see where that would have ended up 🤣

Anyway, hats off to Leeds for a quick and courteous service at an excellent price .
