Urgent help with picking model Y today to buy

Urgent help needed. I need tk buy my car today. I am in Southern California (not a cold place). Can you tell me which of these options make sense to you:

1. MY long range 2024 $44K
2. MY RWD 2024 $40K
3. MY RWD 2023 $37K

I am budget conscious. $37K option requires me spend $1K as I need to get on a flight and a 7 HR drive back home

understand - I am not eligible. I have never preferred leasing and I can get it only if I lease

Also my other car is an ice AWD. My current car which I will trade in is a RWD. So I am ok with RWD and the lower acceleration but having now owned a EV before I am unable to judge how the rage difference will affect me

Something is wrong with the ‘23 model. Tesla sat on the ‘24 models until all the ‘23’s were pretty much depleted. I’d guess it needed major repairs and the SC was waiting on parts.

I still say get a ‘24 model and buy locally.

If this is your primary car, not like a second car used only for commuting,
get the Long Range even if you do drive too much everyday,
because on weekend you don't want to have to deal with charging when doing a local trip.

Get the Long Range. Besides havign more range, they charge faster than the LFP battery in the 'short range' models. As for 2023, I wouldn't worry about it. Those cars are fine. BUT - all these choices are good. You can't go wrong, only choose tradeoffs.

Buy new at those prices. More warranty, better features, etc

I would get LR if you can. The range is nice for lots of reasons.

One of the biggest reasons to go 2024 would be making sure you get HW4 computer and better resolution cameras both which will future proof you car more for future updates.

Agreed with basically everyone who responded -- get the new long range Model Y. Honestly, the price difference isn't enough to go with a used version. You get the full warranty and new car.

If you do ever do go on a trip to a cold and snowy location the AWD is superior. The charging will be quicker with the NCA pack when cold and the dual motor is also a better choice for pre heating so faster charging can take place. The HW 4 and better cameras and superior stereo as well.

My 02 cents, pay a bit more and get the 24 LR.

Model Y RWD does not have a LFP battery.

Any leftover 2023 RWD most certainly has HW4. This isn’t a consideration.

Yes, that’s correct. However if you’re over the income limit you will have to pay it back at filing time.
