The cryptic EM hype machine generates another tweet. He must have sensed the faithful are getting bored, restless, or considering a Bolt.

Just in time to tweet up interest in the stock ahead of another round of dilution.

Tiresome.
He also said there won't be another cap raise in Q4 and probably not in Q1 either.

My guess is Model S /X battery packs made from much higher density 2170 batteries...

From a July article by Electrek Tesla Gigafactory tour roundup and tidbits: ‘This is the coolest factory in the world’:

Elon and JB elaborated with the following:

  • They actually changed the size to 21mm diameter and a 70mm height. They also got rid of the trailing ‘0’ so the name of the battery that will be going into the Model 3 is the ’21-70′
  • JB Straubel says Tesla developed this battery this size by starting without preconceived notions. They then optimized for efficiency, size and output. The 18650 standard was called an accident of history though it had served Tesla and others well. Tesla says it predicts that this new 21-70 battery size will become a new standard.
  • The half centimeter height increase for the car packs would be offset with more efficient battery packaging which will make the packs actually the same thickness or less than current packs and obviously with a higher energy density.
  • Musk noted that once the 21-70s were in mass production, they could find their way into existing Tesla car battery packs for the Model S and X as well as the Powerwall.
Since they've just announced the 2170 batteries will be in the new Powerpack 2.0 Tesla is doubling the energy capacity of the Powerpack with new battery cells from the Gigafactory ...it only makes sense to announce their addition to the cars

Maybe the product that all the stockholders are waiting for, Profit?

The "unexpected" part is curious.. We are all expecting AP 2.0 to roll out before the 3.

Could it be:

Heads up or Augmented Reality display?
P100 Quad motors?
New superchargers?
Model Y?
Model S Wagon?

I'll put my guess on record as AP2.0 but I had thought the vehicles would roll of the line with it before we saw any announcement. Then again, if he announces it, and say it applies to all current orders, then Tesla only has to deal with potential cancellations of current undelivered orders, which won't be all, since not all people who order take note of this stuff or care. For the ones that do, Tesla would probably allow them to refuse delivery and transfer their deposit to a new order, then sell or use the cars as service loaners.
