Did we ever get into these discussions with ice’s?
“ I only rev it up to 3000 rpm on every shift so it will last 15% longer than those who rev it to 4000 rpm”
“I rev it to 6000 rpm and seen no noticeable wear or degradation so as long as it is in the suggested safe range it is fine”
“ I keep it in the neutral area of 1000-2500 rpm and mine will last the longest”
I don’t recall these conversations; I do recall conversations around the type and brand of oil used, and frequency of servicing, but most people were through with the vehicle after a few years before any noticeable changes happened in regards to the engine performance anyway.
I suppose if there were a big display on the dash reporting overall engine health things would have been different.
