Rear Door Handle taken apart. Is this a sign of a worn motor?

Hi everyone,

I have a couple pesky issues but the first one Im dealing with is the rear driver side door handle not working. At first it would present and make a high pitched noise like the motor was seized maybe, but wouldn't unlatch. Now it doesn't present but still makes the noise. The inside latch works fine. Took the handle out and this is what I see. Is this corrosion around the motor?

I also noticed a bit of corrosion in the main wiring harness and the smaller secondary port on the module that's vacant.

What's my best plan of attack - just replace the entire assembly?

You didn't list your year, but did you try the Service feature and try calibrating the door handles? It also provides some limited diag info and the version of door handles you have.

Sorry about that. It's a 2016 with gen 3 handle. Im assuming its been replaced already. Curious about the white on the motor though.

So I just tried the calibration. Interestingly enough the door handle presented and didn't make noise. But it didn't settle in the right spots and got the "failed calibration" message.
