According to this article Tesla Model X is to heavy for drive over the Brooklyn Bridge wish means you will have to take another route if you have plan to take that way.

The answer is provided if you read far enough. For single drivers without much stuff, I would suggest a visit to the auto scales. If your Model X is under 6,001 pounds, IMHO, you should be good to go.

Model X weights 5,441 lbs so the ban only applies to severely obese drivers, or someone moving a sofa. Luckily Model X cannot carry a sofa.

The author of the article seems to be confusing Gross Vehicle Weight Rating with "what the car weighs going down the road". Just because the Model X can be over 6,000 pounds, it doesn't mean it always will be. Obviously if you have 7 adults in the car you'll likely be over the limit, but is anyone ever going to get ticketed for this? No.

I would not call the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) the real world weight unless you always drive with the maximum number of passengers and the maximum amount of cargo in the trunk.

The real world weight is the weight the car shows on a scale.

I think you're right, and I think this applies to a lot of the other negatively-toned Tesla news articles I've seen recently too.

The posted sign doesn't specify Gross Weight -- which may suggest curb weight. So no issue. Even if there were Seven 200 Lb people in the X, should the police stop and weigh the vehicle, the passengers out, would be still the curb weight. These aren't enforced simply because it requires a documented measurement to enforce. So unless the vehicle is obviously over-loaded, the police don't have inclination to go through the hassle. It's not like trying to collect tax on 2 cigs which is more important.
