Model S Refresh: License Holder Part of Bumper?

I doubt there will be any paint damage when removed. I'm sure that if they went through the hassle of making the bracket, they made sure the tape won't damage it.

Also they use double sided tape on the spoiler. I have seen several videos where it is removed without any damage to the paint.

Thanks Erik

I was just in at my local service center getting an inspection on my car to sell it when I noticed they had one of the redesigned Model S cars :)
They told me the license plate holder is now installed by default at the factory... I'm going to call my delivery specialist and see if he can put in a request to leave it off before I even take delivery.

My DS said he can't do that...

My advisor said that the the front license plate holder goes on at the factory, and that no, you can't request that they do not install it (at least for Californina). Regardless, it is just the two bolts on the bottom as shown earlier in this thread and some double-sided adhesive. My advisor said that they can not legally remove it, but that there is nothing stopping a customer from doing so. If you can use a socket wrench you are good to go!

I don't think the removal process has been confirmed yet, just lots of speculation and conjecture to my knowledge. Maybe I missed something though.

Maybe we can get them to install it with a microfiber towel between bracket and front fascia in lieu of what’s most likely some kind of double-sided tape. I’m sure it will come off but I’d hate to mark it up in the process. Worse case you just put it back. :)

For the purpose of removing it later? The microfiber towel would likely mold (depending on where you live).
