Wiki Model S Delivery Update

We had a 16 hour advance notice while camping in the Poconos.

Can you clarify on your 16 hour advance notice? Did your representative call to ask if you were available in the next 16 hours? Or was the day previously scheduled and the date/time moved? I have my VIN, and I'm waiting on a delivery day/date. So, I'm interested to know if I could have my Model S in 16 hours from the next time my delivery specialist calls.

I received a voicemail message Friday evening that the delivery truck was scheduled to be in my area on Saturday morning. The last communication before this was received 11 days earlier when they requested final payment prior to shipping the car. A friend also received his call one evening earlier last week for a next day delivery which was then canceled the next morning and moved ahead a day.

I had become very frustrated by my inability to get any kind of confirmation from my delivery specialist after sending my response to the initial license and insurance proof request but have gained a bit of insight into the crazy, hectic life these guys are living while trying to ramp up deliveries! They definitely need some support staff to handle communications while the delivery crew is driving from location to location or catching flights or missing flights by minutes! We talked a bit about the expectation of responding to the many emails during their long hours of driving.

Congrats donauker! Exciting times.

I get the feeling that they are overworked and understaffed at the moment but hopefully that gets better as they hire more people. I did suggest that once they do schedule a delivery, that they call the day before delivery just to reconfirm 'We are still on track for tomorrow sometime in the afternoon, we'll let you know' or 'It's looking like tomorrow won't work can we do the next day?' or something like that. They thought that was a good way to do things.

Agreed. Thanks for the insight.

Delivery Delay!

I was informed today that my Sig 1299 is being delayed by about a week. I'm taking delivery in Maryland. Originally told Oct 12 to 26; now Oct. 19 - Nov. 2. Disappointing, but I'll live.

Nothing special about my configuration; red performance, tan interior, CF decor, pano, 21" gray wheels, paint armor. I don't think my config has anything to do with this delay. I was referred to Elon's recent blog as a reason.

I'm S-1092 with 10/14-28 delivery and no date yet ….waiting….

Baltimore;
You must have almost the highest Sig# so far. Especially scheduled for delivery! Looking like early Nov. might see all the Sigs delivered, do you think?

He's got the highest Sig sequence number and the highest VIN so far (668). And given that Elon's blog post 5 days ago said they had produced somewhere in the range of 500+ bodies, that means they're at least around 150 bodies per week. And given that 2 of those 5 days were a weekend, I would say we're seeing even more production! Awesome.

The downside is that as we move out of the signature orders and into general production, we're going to see more "holes" in the numbers. The passionate people posting on TMC and the official forums are generally people that put in their reservations early. So, we'll see a reduction in the number of reported deliveries, even though the actual numbers are going up. That should be interesting for us forum-dwellers, as that will put us in more of a "black boxed" position of having less and less information to go on. But keep the faith and everyone will be getting their cars sooner than later.

Any VIN yet? Given that the range of dates is coming up yet, I wouldn't sit around waiting. I'd get on the phone and be giving them daily phone calls until you get some more info. Some people have had luck getting the VIN out of the financing office.

Actually, I don't think you can make that "weekend" (or holiday) assumption/correction. I think they're working 7 days a week, plus maybe some 2nd shift. Someone posted that line workers were told they could have as many overtime hours as they wanted!

When you received your initial delivery date estimates was that communicated to you via an email, or was it communicated to you verbally after making a call to Tesla?

Thanks.

Sweet...maybe a line worker can get enough for a Model S :)
my OT is limited to 20/ mo ....and I do that in a week, then take time+1/2 off for when I get my S and need to drive for a couple/few months

So after prodding my delivery specialist about the status of my car they went out in the factory and sent me some pictures. It currently is in "end of line inspection" and then goes to "burn in testing" and then "final service inspection", according to him. Since I'm doing factory delivery I should be able to pick it up soon once it finishes those final steps. I haven't gotten them to give me a firm date yet but my official delivery window is Oct 4-18th. I'm hoping I can fly up and take delivery this weekend.

Remarkable. The Vin Serial # and reservation # are identical!
They weren't identical. I just updated my signature with the new VIN. My original reservation number was #215.

That is freakin cool that your specialist did that for you! Get that man a beer!
I think they only did I because I haven't been the most patient person. I have hounded for the past two weeks for a firm date. I did write a nice "thank you" e-mail response for their effort.... now if they would only give me a date.
