Doug, did you get a chance to reach out to Tesla?

I've tried a couple of emails.

Maybe, the CAD Sigs are cooking too along with the low US P's?!

Could be. Actually, looking back a bit, there was some relevant information in the last investor conference call, which I had forgotten. At the time they were talking about sending out two "tranches" of US production reservation emails next, followed by the Canadian S & P reservation holders. If they're building roughly in that order, this would be consistent with them building a couple of weeks of American general production ahead of doing the Canadian Signatures.

From this, I'm guessing that Canadian Signature deliveries will most likely start somewhere in the second half of November.

Hopefully mine won't be too late. I'm really trying avoid having to buy new winter tires for my ICE!!! It's also harder to sell a car in the winter.

How is it that you know this, DrDave?

First I apologize as this is not related to deliveries, feel free to move where needed.

Here is the video of Model S going through the ecoat tank, the prime booth, and the basecoat application.

Watch the Tesla Model S get painted - Autoweek

Here is a link for an example (albeit not the exact brand at Tesla, but close enough for this purpose) for an automotive paint shop, about halfway down is the part about the controlled paint circulation system. Most major production facilities utilize some variation of this basic layout for high-volume painting of automobiles.

Out of curiosity, has anyone without a pano roof taken delivery?

I recall seeing 2 non-pano deliveries very early on. I just heard about another 2 getting dates in the last few days. I do wonder how many non-pano Sigs will be out there. Either there is either a big batch coming, or the non-panos will be a rarity, it seems.
I'm a non-Pano awaiting word on delivery window. October was my estimated delivery month when I configured.

Oh baby! I'm R77, I'm in a more rural area so may be out of sequence for shipping a bit, but it's good to see a reasonable window.

Evan, Via Tapatalk

efusco - So what is your configuration?...

I'm blue/tan/piano/pano/19" with everything else but the kiddie seats and the kitchen sink.

Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll ship mine with yours.

Mine early...Not yours late

One can only hope and dream :O)

Evan & Liz - got my date today. Perhaps other STL-ish type folks will be grouped together. 10/25-11/8 was the date spread Walter gave me today. Trying to work this delivery in among about 3 business trips and an impending birth of my fourth son. :)

Needless to say, kid seats... in addition to sig red, pano, 21 silver, black interior with CF.

I too have wondered if the lack of a pano roof is what slowed my car relative to others. The bad thing is that I really waffled on the roof issue wanting the extra headroom, but not really wanting the pano roof. Ended up deciding I wouldn't have tall rear passengers often enough to care about the headroom in the back. Might have gotten the pano roof if I knew in advance that I would get the car a few weeks earlier. Anyways, as I stated earlier my window is 10/12 thru 10/26 for Atlanta delivery. So far I don't believe anyone else has received an S in Atlanta so i think regional differences still play a large part too.

I emailed with my delivery specialist, Sean LaFond, on a range of thingsyesterday. Like everyone else at Tesla he was polite, his responses prompt and professional. I, of course, asked the timing question, and here is what I got:

Timing:
I am sure this is the number one question... My reservation is P457, and my conifg is 85kWh pack, air suspension, green exterior, tan leather interior, pano roof and tech package; is there any more clarity on timing available?

Your delivery is looking like mid to late November. As productions stands right now, Tesla Motors will deliver Signature Series Model S up until the end of October and start on General Production right after that. With your configuration you will be early on in the General Production group.

I'd be lying if I said this didn't make my day! Now I need to remember how to update my signature as it is about one month too optimistic.

Yea! Your configuration == my configuration, so this is good news for the both of us.

Rich please forgive a rookie question: R113 is perhaps Roadster Friends and Family #113? And if so does this mean Tesla - after your car - is less than about 400 cars from General Production?
I was told that the R numbers are part of the General Production sequence count. It's just that they are the first n cars of general production. So, the production numbers do NOT start over at 1 after the R cars are built.

This is not correct. When I got my R number, the P numbers were in the thousands.

They could have put you into an empty spot, held early spots, or taken out a later spot in the list when you got your number. Just because your number is lower than what other people were getting doesn't mean you aren't part of a larger list.

EDIT: It doesn't meant you are part of a larger list either. We just don't know.

I believe we do know. It was pretty well established back then. I know people with P numbers lower than mine (and knew them back then), so there were not held early sports. There certainly could not have been 421 empty spots. It is the 1200 sigs, followed by the 421 Rs, followed by the Ps (minus cancellations for each).
