Warranty for Model 3 is shorter: "8-year, 100,000 mile battery warranty".

Model S/X:
"8 year or unlimited miles Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty"

There are probably enough Cali reservations that they can still do west to east.

True but only producing the large battery/full Options is exactly what they did with X to start (and they said 3 would be different). Thus, there will be people shut out until mid '18 that reserved on first day.
