Charger etiquette, what do you think?

That doesn't really make sense.

First off, it's not dangerous... EV charge ports aren't energized until a plug is connected. It's safe to stick fingers, paperclips, dirt, whatever in it (safe for the human at least, they could damage the port).

If it were dangerous, we should be much more worried about all the Teslas sitting unlocked in garages (walk away lock is often turned off at home). Much more opportunity there for kids to interact unsupervised with an unlocked Tesla in their own home.
You think the kids can unlock the charge port but they have no ability to plug in?

I'm getting lost here...

You can't "just open the charge port" of a locked Tesla.

You can open it by pressing the button on the charge cable - you need to be parked next to a charger for this. You are not going to get kids sticking their ice-creams in it.

As before, there are RFID bits and bobs that 'emulate' the same signal that the button on the charge cable sends - so kids could walk past a car on the street, press the button on their RFID button or dongle (eg Flipper) and the port will open.

Just saying?

You may not want to park here.

Ahh, ok.

So we're losing sleep over the ice-cream-eating kids that are packin' after-market 433Mhz Tesla charge port dongles! :)
