Quite correct. In Canada lawyers are not allowed to work on commission, which eliminates almost all the frivolous lawsuits you see in the U.S. Canada also has a system of Ombudsmen to keep real problems from falling through the cracks.

There are no contingency lawsuits here. The lawyers bills were significant, as the whole thing took 16 years (!), but they were already paid... and the judge awarded court costs.

As opposed to "the guy who I got the money from and who kept interfering with the design", which is what Eberhard wrote between the lines at the time, sort of in the presence of Elon looking over his shoulder. You could already tell he was fighting a fight already lost.
