Figured I'd post an update for a bug on 2024.8.4 for those interested if you should or shouldn't update. If you value your suspension settings avoid updating until bug is fixed.

2024.8.4 strange issue (possily bug?)

Has anybody experienced issues with JACK MODE and SMART AIR SUSPENSION on Model S or X? When I pick LOW it selects MEDIUM, if I select MEDIUM it selects HIGH and when I select HIGH it selects VERY HIGH. I can't enable JACK MODE either... But if I select VERY HIGH it enables JACK MODE! Is it...

My S85D (AP1, MCU1) went into the service center this past weekend for the first time since 2021 (to change headlight bulbs and work off some minor recall items). While there they updated its software from 2022.8.10.16 to 2022.8.10.17, which as far as I can tell only changed the "telltale" font sizes. AP1 seems to operate for me as it did before.

Same. And another oddity this week. I got a full survey via email on my 8 year old Model X. Seems strange. Probably a mistake. I told them I basically still liked the car but had outstanding bugs introduced by Tesla years ago that have never been addressed and that I would like to see Tesla formally announce battery replacement upgrades for older models. Good luck with that.

Did not receive such survey but would be very interested to upgrade to a newer battery while mine is still working and thus has more value… supposedly.

My 2014 P85 (AP1, MCU1) had a software update notice available for a while but it hadn't actually downloaded yet. Then on a trip last weekend, I spent too much time at superchargers and apparently still had the Tesla WiFi password enabled. So now I have the update downloaded, with the dialog front and center every time I put the car into park.

Obviously, the danger is that it will either nerf my AP1 functionality or drop support for the radar sensors. Bruce's message is reassuring, though, and given it's the same upgrade from 2022.8.10.16 to 2022.8.10.17, I'll probably go ahead with it.

I'm still pretty happy with the battery life after 10 years. It had a 100% range of 265 miles when brand new. Its full charge as of last weekend is 252 miles, which is 95% of what it was back in 2014. Back then, I assumed I'd probably need a battery replacement after 8-10 years, but I also assumed battery prices would have dropped a lot more than they have.

There is no way Tesla would disable USS or Radar on AP1 cars. We don't have the cameras to compensate for the change.

I just got 2024.14.6 last night (AP1, MCU2) after being on 2024.8.9 for a few weeks. Nothing too crazy as expected (no updated visuals), but did get the following:

• Audible (ebook reader)
• Updated Spotify music player (I dont use this, but supposed to be better)
• Trip Progress bar (looks kind of out of place but I guess it's just because we aren't used to it)
• Minor fixes
• Security updates
• Full screen mode for Web Browser when parked
• Undocumented: Steering wheel settings aren't Chill/Normal/Sport, they are now Light/Normal/Heavy
• Undocumented: There is now a HVAC fan icon that you can add to the launch bar

I haven't driven it yet, but I did play around with the Infotainment a bit..... so here are some other random things:

• The web browser and random navigation points: it seemed faster/ more snappy especially in the browser (Chromium version 120). Maybe just a placebo but the weather website Professional weather forecast was able to load the radar maps easier/quicker
• It also reinstalled the game Cuphead which I had previously uninstalled since it took up 1GB of space and I never play it.
• It cleared out my service alerts from Nov '23 which gave the warning of the battery fuse (which was replaced). Maybe Tesla is finally cleaning up junk code/old logging?
• Plex via the web browser now correctly plays audio out of the front center channel speaker for the 5.1 audio streams (I still wish there was a native app for it like YouTube/Tik Tok, etc)

Overall I am happy with the update but I haven't driven or Supercharged yet so a bit too early to get too excited about this version yet.

I'm getting the update now. Should point out this new version, in the notes, says we can finally adjust the playback speed in Spotify! That is a feature I've been wanting for a long time.
