Need opinions - tell me I’m right

You did the right thing. Any error you made was in not finding a way to let your wife know. As the host of the other family you had obligations to act as a host. And a good host would have driven them to their hotel. There is no way you are going to convince your wife now so maybe some...

The people of our country responded in many different ways to the mitigation attempts because we had Luddite politicians giving opposite advice and in some cases pushing through laws that made the mitigation actions illegal. We live in a fabulous country. At a time when we needed leadership we...

It does not really matter where the bug came from. What matters is that we learn from it how to be ready for the next one. Will Big Pharm have a play book that may work faster on getting vaccines? Will the vulnerable be identified so they can be better protected? Will WHO develop means and...

Because when it is about the data you misinterpret and misrepresent the data you post. You ignore that hundreds of millions in this country have received multiple does of vaccines and are still alive. This kind of goes against your statements that masks and vaccines kill. Other than that you...

A random thought. Many on here are talking about vaccine efficacy. And they are talking about it in different countries. Since different countries uses different vaccines (I know there is some crossover) i have to wonder if this discussion means anything. And I have to wonder if JUC is saying...

    Coronavirus

The reason we have had such an anti-vax and anti-mask and anti-lockdown in this country is mainly due to two things. Primary is the stand taken by political leaders such as Trump, DeSantis, and Abbot. Laws outlawing lockdown and mandates permeated many states. Florida outlawed requiring masks...

I can't believe I am doing this. But I must defend Florida to a degree. I have been very outspoken about the anti-science and anti-history actions of my state's government. There were many weeks when we led the country in cases per capita. In recent weeks our standings have gone way down...

    Beware of Model X

The X is 6 years old as a model. The problems with the front suspension, the 12v battery, and the FSD seals should certainly have been fixed by now if they were priorities for Tesla. Since we are reading of these issues still my guess is Tesla has no intention of fixing them.

I was vaccinated when the vaccines first came out. I got both boosters within a week of their availability. I tested positive in Jan and believe I just had it again after my wife got it. I am assuming the two cases were variants of Omnicron since my doses were all for the original. But...

    College degree as a REQUIREMENT

The military pretty much bases its policy for officers on current need. In the late 60's you get into Officer Candidate School based on Army testing with or without a degree. Every time I came up for promotion I was told I would not be selected because I had no degree but I did advance to...

My son and I had a conversation about the difference if Trump had not been elected. Politics - Quarantine Thread

I will say this. When the polls open in 22 and 24 I hope every citizen is aware of both the deaths in their state and the measures that their elected officials took or failed to take or even took against saving lives. But for the day to day living the 7 day rolling trend is useful for...

I see that, but when the discussion is about the trend then the 7 day rolling average gives a truer picture. Florida may have the 6 most total cases per capita as you say but it is 41st in the 7 day rolling average figure and that gives a better idea of the current trend. See, it is possible...

It should be pointed out that much of the aid we give to developing and third world countries is intercepted by war lords and other bad actors. Greed is not unique to rich countries. Greed in other countries is misdirecting aid we do send which, understandably, makes us wary of providing aid.
