Why does Model S not have a trip computer?

Also, average speed is integrally related to energy usage. I would like to report some like: "I made the trip from Vegas to Barstow traveling at an average speed of X mph, and I used Y RM's." On the traveling route threads, we constantly hear average speed being used. It is a simple matter of distance/time. So, I guess I could use a stop watch on every trip, or write down the exact time of departure/arrival, but what a pain when the technology is ridiculously simple.

What would be nice would be the ability to download the log. That would let you do all the trip functions and a lot more. Feed the log into an App and it would do it automatically.

Another thing I miss, and I only realised it recently because winter is approaching and I've just switched to winter tires, is the speed limit or speed warning related to winter tires. When you put your winter tires you should not exceed a certain speed limit, and it is good to have a warning if you do.

Many other cars have a warning that you can activate to beep/pop up when you reach that speed limit, to remind you you have winter tires on (which you do not want to destroy at 200 km/h, for example :scared:). And none of that is present on the Model S, and again, it has to be extremely simple to include...

It is surprising they don't add these features.

That is a nice feature, though really not related to a Trip Computer per se. To get what you are looking for, you may find that if you install a radar detector (Escort 8500 or 9500). Mine tells me if I exceeded a certain speed that I get to select. I find it very useful on the highway, when it is so easy to go too fast. I don't mind going a little fast. I do want to keep things somewhat in check.

I have just now realised I never sent this suggestion to Tesla Motors. I have done it now, so let's hope they take it into consideration for future software updates. :)

I think anyone who would like to see a trip timer added to the software package should suggest it to Tesla. The more the better. For whatever reason I have a tendency to time my morning commute; I pretty much know how long about 5 different routes 'should take'. I hate being late!
