What'll happen if I open the CAN bus connector behind the center console?

2021 Model Year

I have a device that the manufacturer says I should pull off that cover below the rear vents, separate the CAN bus and add in their stub as a way to get switched power to the device

but I figured I'd ask here first to see if there were any special precautions I should be taking before I do this ... or any consequences from doing it

It'd be nice to not brick the car

Just turn the power off from the touchscreen and leave it for a while to ensure the power is out completely
