Tesla model S 2018 LED lights from RHD to LHD

Hello there,

I have Model S from 2018, model with LED lights (refreshed version), and I might be taking a car permanently from UK to the continent (Europe), now after checking manual, it says that I can book a ranger to adjust the lights, but today I have been to Tesla and they said they cannot. Anyone have any experience with it? Can it be done? Will need the LHD beam pattern in order to register the car in EU (will need to have EU MOT passed where they checking lights)

Any advise please?

IMHO easiest solution would be to replace the headlights by EU models. (or even sell the car and buy a new one)

That being said, be cautious cause they are other stuff to check, especially in France for example where they are very peaky with mods, etc.

Where are you moving?

Wait, I was searching a little bit further and they are possibly the same actually.
It's only South Korea that seems to have different parts!

I'd like to be 100% sure of it so please do not take my answer for granted.
oh so there is a chance, so far I was able to find that 1053578-00-E seems to be UK version and 1053575-00-E seems to be one in UK, unless one is right another one is left :D

OK, they are different headlights for UK. this is want I can find:
LH (Passenger side) : 1053572-00-D ; 1053576-00-D ; 1053578-00-E ; 1058173-00-D ; 1065047-00-D ;
RH (Driver side) : 1053573-00-D ; 1053577-00-D ; 1053579-00-E ; 1058170-00-D ; 1065048-00-D ;

For Poland (and must be the same for many countries with LHD cars in Europe) I can find the following part numbers:
LH (Driver side) : 1053572-00-D ; 1053574-00-E ; 1058169-00-D ; 1065045-00-D ; 1065047-00-D ;
RH (Passenger side) : 1053573-00-D ; 1053575-00-E ; 1058170-00-D ; 1065046-00-D ; 1065048-00-D ;

AS you can notice, some parts are the same, some are different. What is the difference, I don't really know but having the part numbers, this is a good start to investigate :)

It'd be interesting to know what are the ones you currently have on your model s

Thanks a lot for all this work, I am in UK now, and had headlight replaced only yesterday, the model number of the old one is 1053578-00-C, Tesla have replaced it with 1053578-00-E, from what I know C and D were the “bad” ones where LED stripe use to fade or fail, this happened to me. Spoke with few people, apparently lights are different, with old types where you didn’t had LED, you could actually convert the beam by Rotating it internally. With new ones you could also do that but it would require to have inserts from EU versions, could be done by buying cheap LHD headlights which were involved in accident for example and then transplanting the “mirror”, this is what I heard.

I am in the same situation. I have 2019 Model S (UK) and already relocated in Spain, believing the conversation with Tesla that all the modification can be done when I arrive here. After many back back and forth, I learnt my next step is to visit Tesla certified body shop for the modification (Headlight adjustment and rear fog right to left).
I am very keen on how @lukearlo up to now and how you did it. Looking forward to hearing from you.

hey man, so after doing all the research, two front headlights need to be changed as UK ones are RHD and beam goes on left hand side. Unfortunately no settings nor adjustments can sort this, with the rear fog light, not that easy neither as changing internal tail lights (the ones in the boot) you will have a fog light flashing white not red, you will need to modify the wires. My solution for that is using dragon tail light and this is what I will be doing…

With front ones I will be just getting new headlights sadly as again no adjustment for LED ones, on 2022 with matrix lights you can adjust them, on previous before facelift I believe you could either adjust or convert, with the ones we have, you can’t…

In other cars you also need to change mirrors but Tesla unlike Audi for example has both mirrors the same so not such nonsense to be done :)

Thanks @lukearlo ! Very helpful!
  1. The dragon tail does look a great solution, I did not know it. Thank you!
  2. Is "1053578-00-E" is a legit headlight for Europe required beam pattern and fits RHD Tesla like ours?
I am researching which headlights and where to buy...

With head lights, you would need these I believe:
1053575-00-E right side
1053574-00-E left side
As they must be LHD specs to have a correct beam for EU roads

Hi there, still the project is on going. Does anyone know if the 1053572 and 1053570 are completely compatible? 1053572 is for some European countries and 1053570 is for the US as far as I checked on the Tesla catalog. Some eBay listing says they are interchangeable but I am not 100% confident...
