Tesla Map color is terrible

Hi All,

I'm on Premium Connectivity, and lately I noticed that the map color is darker on the satellite view. It used to be more on the green side and now it's darker on the black side. I tried resetting the screen with the scroll wheels. That didn't resolve the issue. Anyone here have the same issue? Thanks

Not sure why you think so. My preference is satellite view as it gives me an exact picture of what's around me.

Satellite imagery comes from Google. I’ve noticed some areas in my town still have the old warmer green imagery vs the new cooler blueish images. Tesla has no control over google maps

Mine stays on Satellite view too. It's amuch warmer view, especially at night. Like everything else, I'm sure an update will come along and fix it...whether that be Google or Tesla or whatever.

The satellite view (aircraft really) was shot at a darker time of the day.

Hmm, Why? Its what I use and it looks great. No issues at all.

Google periodically updates satellite images, often with different lighting and season. On Google Earth you can step through the history of images.

Must be when/how your particular imagery was shot. Google Maps updates every 1 to 3 years, depending on the location.

The Google maps for my area just got updated. The fields (rural area) are very different from the previous map. This is normal and expected.

Just a thought. Some time ago there was an update that gave the option to view the screen with a “warmer” hue/tint. I found it too dark. Is it possible you have this option turned on?

I used to work at Google in their maps org and a lot of thought goes into their base map layers for usability where the sat map is simply...images. Tesla has obviously made some changes to the base layer, but even so, it should be better than raw imagery.

This is from the manual for the Model 3, but I think it is the same for your Y. Check both appearance setting and brightness.

I also keep my map on satellite. Sometimes certain areas are darker but that's the image that got downloaded.

Oddly enough I got a new map yesterday. Looks very strange as the picture (google maps) was taken when there was snow on the ground so everything is white. Looks quite confusing. Here is a screen shot of where the maps converge (summer/winter)
