Was at the existing Supercharger yesterday (8/8/21). 15+ Tesla’s there charging or waiting to charge. 2 stalls were down. Waited 1 hour, and I was 3 in line. I met 2 Model Xs and Model 3 were traveling from California. Said Knoxville was the first time during their trip across the country where they had to wait. Hope this new location is online soon.

How far is this from the current S?
I come down 75 and turn on to i40 heading for Asheville. it's quite a bit of a drive to the current SC and the gap between London and ASheville is quite long
I would have liked to see the second Knoxville SC on the Northside or on the eastside........
This new SC is 101 miles from the London, KY SC per Google Maps. It is still on the westside of the city but slightly more east then the current one. Please see location for reference below as well.

It’s 10 miles between the Knoxville superchargers so it will save you some time, miles and few minutes charging as well.

Thanks for the replies. It takes me about 20 mins when I leave i75 to reach the current supercharger. I had been using an EA with chademo at either Williamsburg KY or on I40 east of Knoxville.
Now I'll have to decide if the convience reliability faster speed and lower cost of the new SC is worth the extra 20 mins a round trip would take.

I have a similar issue with I26 and have rarely found a 20 minute detour to be worth it vs a non-detour to an EA with CHAdeMO. It gets really close to being worth it if I need to add more than 20%, though.

Drove by today. The chain-link fence is still there but after the electrical wire spools are removed I think the fence could go as well. A landscaping company is here and and the site just needs a drain connected. The two larger electrical cabinets are still covered. The disconnect cabinet has a padlock on it. Assuming they can get it inspected maybe next week it’ll be ready?
