Hey everyone. I'm looking to do some good road trip traveling to northern California this fall. Wondering how much space the frunk has. Can it be reconfigured to have even more space?
In my D, I have been able to fit (one) these at various times:
Carry-on bag
Full size, fully loaded hiker's backpack with camping mats, sleeping bags and tent.
Empty propane tank used in outdoor grills (don't put a new full one for safety reasons)
Small odd items like laptop bag or camera bag, open camera gear (mostly to keep it out sight)
Banana
* 1 Tent (Big Agnus)
* Duffle bag with clothes
* 1 Grill
* 6 bottles of Wine
* 2 BBQ sets
* Handheld Vacuum cleaner
* Toolkit
* Gas
I used to go camping with a Toyota Highlander, and always needed to carry a cargo carrier on the roof, which was generally always full. We didn't economize on what we pack when we switched to the Model S, but all camping supplies now fit easily in it.
So as a rule of thumb - a Model S with Frunk (full frunk, not AWD frunk) is equivalent to a Highlander with a rooftop cargo carrier.
thanks benjiejr, the dimensions on your photo are great, I was wondering how much space was lost due to the front motor. I assume the photo is of your 85D.
Q: Is the frunk space the same whether 70D or 85D? (do they have same or different front motors?)
aha, thanks. Assume they must be same size then. I thought I'd heard somewhere the front motors were different, I guess I'm thinking of the rear. Thx again
