We had a test drive on a model y last year and the whole experience was pleasant until this year

On June 27 we scheduled a test drive online for Jul 1,was awarded they are not open on Canada Day but we got a confirmation email (see attachment)

Then we got a call the next day saying they are not open on Jul 1 so we have to reschedule it to Jul 2

At the same time we found a spot online for test drive on June 30 at 6:30pm and we booked and got a confirmation email (see attachment)we picked that time BC they were having a promotion - tesla rebate for $5000 and the last day of promo is on June 30.

In the morning about 10:30 we got a call from them,no time to pick up bc of work, and we checked the voice mail saying about the last day promotion of -$5000 and hope we will be able to arrive earlier and make a deal.so me and my husband took some time off from work and we arrived at 5:40pm

When we arrived, the person who works there says"we don't see your appointment,we actually don't schedule any test drive after 6" he said that without an apology then I showed him the confirmation email and he said yeah just come on July 2 I can see ur appointment here,we left without arguing with him bc we were exhausted, and we know we have to come back anyways so we don't want to argue anything.

Ok the way back home I checkedy email, they sent us a email as a "test drive confirmation"at 3:15pm and rescheduled us without notifying us from 6:30pm to 4:30

I mean do u think people don't have work on weekdays?checked their personal email during work and have to come for a test drive right away?

Ok,on Jul 2 we went there again, the same guy apologized for the last issue but said because u didn't pick up the phone, seriously?and in the voice mail they didn't mention about the reschedule or no test drive after 6 at all, just wanted to make a deal, but anyways we did test drive the model 3 and liked the car,we didn't place an order at that moment bc of the unpleasant experience but would like to check out if we have other options for getting a EV

Unfortunately we found tesla is the most suitable for us, honestly nothing can beat their range so far and we paid the deposit online, our car was in the inventory and stated as "coming soon".we know we have to expect the wait and apparently it was on transfer,at the same time we needed to find out when to sell our current car and cancel the insurance etc

We didn't want to call them and ask where's my car like a annoying customer so we found out in this forum our car is already arrived in the port of Vancouver in late July, but till Aug we still got no one contacting us so we called them, they said oh bc of the trade in thingy u have to complete the process first so we can go to the next step.We replied that we received texts 3 times and already replied them about no we are not trading in.they said ok and will send us a text,it was quick like within one min we got the estimate delivery date on Aug 25-sept3

After a about I feel weird bc we have no updates about the exact date of delivery since it's about 10 days to go till Aug 25, I think we should get something at least a VIN bc people said we should get a VIN before delivery,we called them and the first answer we have got was "it shows everything on the tesla app"we explained our situation as we need to get insurance and sell the car etc then they said Aug 19 is the confirmed date and they even sent us a text to confirm

Few days ago I just checked the app out of the blue, saying we have to upload a proof of insurance (we didn't get an email regarding the updated status tho)but we still got NO VIN and we called and they texted us the VIN so we were able to get the insurance.

So tomorrow will be the delivery date,we already planned for a out of town trip to Sylvan Lake and so we wanted to get the CCS plug from them,as we found there no supercharge station around the area and the cloest to me is not n red deer, but we were not able buy the plug from tesla because it said the car is not delivered, but for some reason charger and mobile connector

And we were so excited to take the delivery tomorrow at 10am and was wondering about the down payment,so we checked on their website yesterday and found out they don't accept credit cards, only 1.wire transfer (to whom?) 2.Bank draft(to whom?)and tesla e check(basically u transfer some money to ur tesla account and they will deduct the amount from it,and it said "your sales representative will discuss with you about the payment methods etc"ok ,no one never contact us

This morning we finally got a text saying our car is not here and they sent us a link saying you can reschedule a date for delivery, seriously?? So basically less than 24 hours notice and telling u that your car is not here,I mean, seriously??

So from schedule a test drive to placing an order to getting a VIN for insurance to down payment methods to delivery,if u wanna live longer,u might need to reconsider

Tesla Model Y is the most popular car in the World. They just announced a huge rebate and are overwhelmed with requests for test drives. Everyone wants to show up at the last possible moment. Doing so on a National Holiday can also complicate things.

Their program is to take a test drive at a scheduled time. Often this changes because the guy before you did not return his test ride on time or something mechanical.

They have a super simple method for you to place your order on line, with a credit card deposit. You need to arrange final payment prior to arriving, usually with a direct bank transfer. They do not take credit cards for the full payment because the bank charges are too high to compensate for people's cash back cards. All this is explained on line. Old fashioned way of speaking directly to a delivery specialist or test drive desk, can foul things up, because not every employee can keep up with the constant delivery constraints.

Sorry you are having a challenge getting everything done on your schedule, but Tesla does offer an easy pathway.
During high demand, rush times, you must have some flexibility.

Tesla is also in the process of refreshing the 3/Y line This is causing some disruption in the normal flow of production.

Best way to keep in the loup is to check your eMail correspondance regularly when you are in the ordering/delivery process.

Thanks

After the order confirmation email,we never get an email from them,we only see updates from the app, only when we check it tho

Didn't understand why we could be able to schedule a test drive if they don't open on that day or they are not allowing test drive after 6

Thank you for not referring to this as a nightmare. That term is so wildly overused.
Well I believe there's always a reason why people choosing tesla, can't really discribe as a nightmare as we still like their cars.but not the service at all

They never email us about anything after the order confirmation documents so now lesson learned, even tho u don't own a Tesla yet, keep checking the app for updates, but they will expect u to upload the proof of insurance without send out your VIN, expecting u know w the down payment methods by saying the discuss with your sales representative for payment methods without anyone contacting u,when u call them they will just answer everything is on the app but when u tell them there's no VIn so I'm not able to get the insurance then they will start looking it up for u

I bough two teslas in the last 8 months and both times things were flawless.

This isn't to argue with OP, but rather to balance opinions since as we all know - most usage of forums like this is to voice complaints.
Also, two of my friends own Porsches, and since day one, they are frequent visitor to service centers for various reasons.
Last oil change was $800.00 ( that's eight hundred). He was told any oil change outside of Porsche dealership would void the warranty.

Good for u,when did u get ur Teslas?I really liked their service until now, last summer's test drive was amazing, people were polite and not pushy at all,but then shortage of car supplies we didn't get the MY

This year it was horrible,I'm not sure is it because of just a specific location,we are in Calgary.eveeytime we called, they first directed u to check app but after u dig in to questions,e.g need a VIN number for the insurance as they asked u to upload a proof, then they will start checking for u.

Speaking about Porsche,I am not saying $800 is a reasonable price but this is how super car dealership shows how "special" the owners are.well I have heard just 2 piece of floor mat hold can cost u up to $1000

This is Tesla. Their customer service sucks.

Sadly it's not just their staffing shortages, but their IT systems seem to suck as well.

It's going to be great for people when they don't have to buy a Tesla to use the V3 and future V4 Superchargers.
Ikr,I was aware they wouldn't be open the door on Canada Day(but they open on weekends tho)and I could schedule a test drive and got a confirmation email so I would "assume" it was a go haha

If they don't allow test drives after 6 then why their system could book us for 630?

Both are a easy fix on the website

I picked the M3P ( from stock) on December 22nd 2022 . Ironically, the charge port wouldn't accept the plug so I went back to the SC on Christmas Eve, (Saturday) without making an appointment. SC personnel was nice, and fixed the port within 2 or so hours.

The MYP was ordered. waited about 6 weeks.
Delivery happened on June 6th 2023 if i recall correctly.
The MYP went back for faulty DC module after i got "stranded" with L2 charging only on my way back from Florida. Actually waited 4 weeks for service appointment, but the experience was great too, including a loaner MS

Mai I know which location u were at?

Hello @TinkerBrad. Sorry to hear your experience so far isn't going as well as you'd hoped. Our first pickup was at that Calgary location the first day Model 3s were available in Alberta. Flawless experience. Our most recent was our Model X in Edmonton just before last Christmas. Let's say there were a few hiccups along the way, but eventually it turned out to be a good experience. Both experiences were a million times better than any new car we've purchased at traditional dealerships though.

Oh fun fact, our Calgary dealership doesn't even have a couch probably they don't want people to stay lol
C'mon now, that's not true. See that sign to the right of the desk? Top line says Service. Second line says Customer Lounge and third line says Restroom. What do you think a Customer Lounge is?

So tomorrow will be the delivery date,we already planned for a out of town trip to Sylvan Lake and so we wanted to get the CCS plug from them,as we found there no supercharge station around the area and the cloest to me is not n red deer, but we were not able buy the plug from tesla because it said the car is not delivered, but for some reason charger and mobile connector
I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say here, there are a few typos I think. However, there are 2 Supercharger locations in Red Deer. Either one is only 26 km away from Sylvan Lake. If you're coming from the South (I presume you are as you're buying your Tesla in Calgary) or the East they're on your way to Sylvan Lake (and on the way back home again). If from the North, they're only a few minutes out of your way. If you're coming from somewhere else where Red Deer is out of the way, the Superchargers are only 20 minutes away from Sylvan Lake so it's still not really an issue; certainly not enough of an issue to justify spending over $300 on a CCS adapter! Sylvan Lake also has electricity so maybe if you're staying a day or two you can use the Mobile Connector (not as necessary as in 2018 when there were only 3 Supercharger stations in the province, but I still wouldn't travel without one) to grab some electrons where you're staying overnight. If not, there are two L2 charging stations in Sylvan Lake, one at the MultiPlex and another down by the beach you can plug into to charge while you're in town. The beachside one seems to be unreliable at the moment though so be forewarned.

I do remember thinking that if all the issues aren’t sorted by the time I collect the car...I will have time for one last flounce.. I would refuse delivery...that will show them !!..when we got to the service center, I was shocked...there were car transporters constantly arriving full of new Teslas...and a new Tesla was mated with it’s new owner every couple of minutes...my silent protest against the system would be like peeing in the Grand Canyon...plus my back was killing me after we took the scenic route in the Volvo...and my new car was just sitting there gleaming in the sunshine.
So I gave them the keys to my hated Volvo and took my white on white Model 3LR...put the dog in the back the wife in the front and drove home...and loved every minute of it....two years later and I still love every minute in my Tesla
