Well that's depressing. I'm told mine will go through Chicago and then backtrack NW about 650 miles into worse weather and roads. I truly will be a March delivery with this metric. No VIN still.
I was told that I could perhaps get a "direct ship" if I wanted, but I said I wasn't in a hurry and would prefer to have my car stop at an East Coast service center first, and that I definitely wanted the delivery specialist to be there with the car. People have been seeing "direct ship" cars arrive out of alignment with low batteries and the wrong tire pressure, so there's some advantages of going through a service center first; they can also check for any other problems arising from the cross-country trip, and hopefully spot any missing parts (since there seem to be a surprising number of cars coming out of the factory with bits missing). Apparently I should also be able get the "defogger retrofit" done at the service center before delivery, which will save trouble later.
So look on the upside: if they do this *right*, your car will only have travelled 650 miles from being in showroom condition, rather than all the way from California.
As for me, I got a call from my "Inside Delivery Specialist" after bugging people, and everything looks good to go except I also still don't have a VIN. So now I'm itching to get that, because then I have a complicated dance of insurance paperwork which I would rather get off my mind, but I can't forget about until I've done it.

PS - Jump seats were installed, parcel shelf and UMC chrome trim on due bill. no license plate frame nor frunk net.
I have to ask. A lot of cars are arriving with "missing bits". Now, I understand some people are in a raging hurry to get their cars and would rather get them now and get the missing bits later. Did Tesla warn you that bits were missing before pickup and ask you if you wanted to wait, or did they just say "Here's your car, take it or leave it" ?
Since the license plate frame is legally required in NY, I'm not accepting delivery without it (for an example). My Inside Delivery Specialist made it sound as if there would be no problem waiting to deliver the car until all of this stuff was ready and installed at the Service Center.
Are the people who are getting cars with long due bills people who said "deliver it when it's ready", or people who asked to get their cars ASAP? If it's the latter, it's no problem, obviously; if it's the former, I'd worry.
