Is Sleep Mode Broken in 5.8?

OP here, sleep mode seems to be now working for me in the past 5 days, losing an average of 2 to 3 miles/day instead of 10+ miles. Didn't change anything in the car but my guess is I had a service done last week to swap out the 12v battery. That probably caused the car to be awake most of the...

Is Sleep Mode Broken in 5.8?

I have the standard 85kwh. Tried rebooting the console while toggling the sleep mode setting on and off. After 4 hours, 1.5 mile was lost so it doesn't seem to work. My garage temp is in the high 60s and low 70s throughout the day.

Is Sleep Mode Broken in 5.8?

Sleep mode works fine for me in firmware 5.6. The vampire loss on this firmware version is less than 3 miles a day. But since upgrading to firmware 5.8, the sleep mode seems to be broken. The vampire loss is now 12 miles a day. I don't think the car is really 'sleeping' either, because I was...

    Model S REST API

To the developers in this thread: what is the unit of 'power' from the streaming API? Is it total watt used since the last 250ms (since the data comes in every 250ms). So to obtain the total energy used (as shown in the in-car odometer), one would take this number multiply by 250 and divided by...

    Decreasing rated range.

Another reference, on 4.5 firmware, 7900 miles in 6 months of ownership. I did a max range charge last night and got 254 miles. I live in Phoenix so the degradation may be higher than normal.

Arizona - Phoenix and Tucson Corridor

I left mine at 80% charge, somehow it just doesn't feel right to leave the battery at a high SOC level while my garage stays in the low 100s to high 90s throughout the night. Officially, Tesla says to always plug in and do a standard charge, so it's no surprise Tim and Randy is toeing the...

I am approaching 6000 miles and thinking of rotating the tires, but the Tesla service center has not opened yet. My previous cars' tires are all rotated at the dealership or at Costco. I am not planning to have them rotated at Costco though. For those who have rotated their tires, where would...

Hottest Interior Temperature (according to the app)?

123F Outside Temp, is this the record so far?

Arizona - Phoenix and Tucson Corridor

It could be me, was on Ray Rd yesterday heading west around 11:40am. We used the app to turn on the A/C 5 minutes before getting in the car, by then the cabin was quite comfortable. The only downside is the door handles are scorching hot, almost burn my hands even though i touched it for less...

    Headlights in auto mode bug?

Have you experienced the headlights in auto mode doesn't turn itself off after the car emerges from shaded places? Here's what I've noticed: 1. Start the car in the garage, headlights are on, drive it out of the garage, headlights immediately turns off. 2. 5 minutes later, I stopped under...

Chris also recommended Shane. But it's in Peoria (50 miles from my home). How long does it take to get the tint done?

Have any Model S owners tinted their cars yet? If so, which tint shop would you recommend?

    Rear Seat Entrance Leather Wear

Ahh, you're right. I was looking near the top and didn't realize it's almost near the seat level.

    Rear Seat Entrance Leather Wear

Is the leather piece attached to the B-pillar and the rear door only available in the Signature or performance cars? Mine (non-performance 85kwh) looks totally different from the pictures in this thread.

Probably holds the AZ record of most MS in one place. :) Was having a delivery walkthrough with Chris (an amazing guy!) yesterday and got a couple of tidbits to share: 1. There are probably 60 Model S in AZ, split evenly between Phoenix and Tucson. 2. The Service Center in Scottsdale most...

Arizona - Phoenix and Tucson Corridor

Just had a non-pleasant experience at the DMV at S Beck Ave, Chandler. I knew I was in trouble when the DMV agent asked, what company is this (Tesla)? Then she said the VIN and make/model is not in their system. She ended up asking me to goto ADEQ to get a 'Alternative Fuel Certificate'...

I just received the paperwork from Tesla to register the plate, but my car will probably get delivered sometime next week. I am thinking of going to DMV tomorrow and get the title/plate. When you hand the paperwork to DMV, do you have to show them the car for inspection?

Sousaphil, how did your delivery go?

Sousaphil, how do I contact Chris, the AZ DS? From your experience, I may get more up-to-date info from him, than the Palo Alto DS.

Arizona - Phoenix and Tucson Corridor

I wonder if this is because Tesla is trying to 'pool' more cars to be delivered to AZ? They received my payment today, so my car could be on the same batch that goes out on Feb 6.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I would be pissed too if I send a 100K check to Tesla and they responded with silence. Tesla should not ask for money unless they can guarantee the car will be shipped within 3 days of receiving the final payment. Seems to me Tesla just want to get paid after the car is build, but before the...

2 week delivery window, but no VIN

Who is your DS? I noticed some DS are more responsive than others. My DS is similar to yours, emails were never acknowledged. I have to call them up directly. Even then, there's not much useful information coming from them, it's either 'Not yet', or 'Coming soon', or 'Will update you later'.

Arizona - Phoenix and Tucson Corridor

I have a couple questions for those who have taken delivery in AZ. Obviously, we can only do home delivery in AZ: 1. How was the Model S delivered to your home? by an 18-wheeler, or a small u-haul trailer? 2. Did someone from Tesla show up later to go over the car? This is especially important...

What charging adapter comes with the car?

For those who have received the car, what charging adapter comes standard with the car? My garage has a NEMA 6-50 outlet, so I would need a 6-50 adapter. But I also want the J1772 adapter for public charging. Would Tesla make you pay for extra adapters?

In that case, the MVPA delivery date estimate is based on your reservation number, and not from current actual production speed. My reservation # is in 2900s, I received the finalize email in September and just finalized two weeks ago. My delivery estimate is shown as 'Nov to Dec 2012', lol...

Large Drop in Charge When Parked in the Cold

This is one of my biggest worries about this car. When a Roadster's battery bricked without plugged in this summer, Tesla came out and reassured the Model S can be safely unplugged for an extended period of time. If it takes 20+ miles of energy to warm the battery for 12 hours, then I don't see...

TMS cooling question when parked and not connected to a charger

I recall reading somewhere (probably from Volt forum) the optimal temperature range for Lithium Ion batteries is between 50 to 85F, so I assume the battery should be kept at this temperature range for maximum life. Chevy Volt's TMS kicks in when the battery pack temperature hits 85F and SoC >...

TMS cooling question when parked and not connected to a charger

I just thought of something: Tesla advertised that Model S can go without plugged in for a year without damaging the battery. This doesn't seem right, let's say the car is unplugged in hot Arizona summer for an extended period of time. The TMS has to kick in to cool the battery (ambient temp is...

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

Do we know how much storage is available in the non-upgraded audio system? The specs mentioned 1000 songs, if an average mp3 file is about 5 to 8 MB, then it could be the base audio package has a storage of about 8GB. Also, can the audio system play music from a USB stick? If so, then...

Get Amped Tour: Scottsdale, AZ, 7/13 - 7/15

Some pictures, there are already tons of this car's pictures, so I won't post all of mine. The silver non-performance test drive car. It's parked at the valet area so lighting is not so good. The beta Signature Red inside the store. They have 2 betas in there, and may get production cars...

Get Amped Tour: Scottsdale, AZ, 7/13 - 7/15

I concur with the majority of the reviews here. Exterior 9/10, Driving Experience 9/10, Interior: 7/10. 10 minutes just doesn't give you lots of feedback. They need to find some winding roads so we can test the handling/cornering. Although I did a hard cornering at 35mph and there's no body...

Get Amped Tour: Scottsdale, AZ, 7/13 - 7/15

Just got back from the test drive. I believe I was the 2nd person to test drive Model S in AZ! Anyway, there were only two Model S available for test drive (Grey Performance, and Silver non-Performance). I drove the silver one, but I wasn't given a chance to pick. The route was pretty short...

Hmm, that sucks, I was hoping to test drive at 2pm to see how well the A/C works in 110F temp. But it looks like the test drive slots are very few to begin with, when you go to the sign up page, does it say 'All test drive slots are full', or does it still show available slots to test drive?

Get Amped Tour: Scottsdale, AZ, 7/13 - 7/15

Has anyone received invitation email in the past 2 days? The first one went out on 7/4 but so far nothing after that. I am guessing since there are 3 test drive locations this weekend (3 cars per location?), it maybe the AZ slots are all taken up.

I hope to have a test drive on Friday too, it looks like we will probably have a lot of time slots available: Test drive is next week and yet this thread hasn't even hit page #2. The Portland and Chicago threads already has 3 pages and their test drives are 3 weeks away!

Battery thermal management - does it work when car is unplugged?

I think NuclearPower most likely meant how long can the 'self-cooling' battery thermal system kick in, if parked without plugged in for within a 12 hour period? e.g. Leave the house in the morning with 90% SoC, then park at work for 8 hours without plugged in at 60% SoC. Here in AZ summer, even...

Battery thermal management - does it work when car is unplugged?

Does anyone know whether the battery thermal management system will kick in, while the car is parked and unplugged? I am guessing not, as it would mean running the A/C system without plugged in for extended period of time. Here in AZ, the road surface temp can hit 120F+, even my garage hits 110F...
