Is Sleep Mode Broken in 5.8?

I decided to start tracking sleep mode on my car. When the car sleeps, it works great. When it decides to randomly stay awake, well that's another story. Here is what it should look like:

It is odd that the car decided to wake up from 5-6:30 AM and just sit there without charging the 12V. Then, at 6:30 it clearly remembered the reason it had woken up and charged the 12V for 1 hour. I'd say my car had a reasonably good nights' sleep.

sorry for the poor table formatting.

I was visiting family in New Mexico for Thanksgiving and had to leave my car behind so I was able to get some data on how much range it lost while I was away (I'm on firmware version 5.8 and had sleep mode enabled). I checked the range about twice a day and it lost 7 miles of rated range in 45 hours before it charged itself the first time and then lost 8 miles of rated range in 43 hours prior to charging for the second time. If we ignore the effect of waking the car up twice a day to check the range, this works out to about 4 miles of range lost per day and this is MUCH better than I was doing on firmware version 4.5. The iPhone app takes a bit longer to connect and the instrument cluster takes a bit of time to boot up now, but the energy savings seem worth it to me.

Didn't we have a couple people that held back on 4.whatever so that they could use "original sleep". I'll be curious to what they think of "Energy Saver sleep" compared to "original sleep" whenever these people upgrade.

My car got a particularly good night's sleep last night. 1 mile of range lost in 23 hours!

Just a thought: the range displayed is rounded (or truncated) both when we record the "before" and "after" values. That means any value of range consumed while sleeping (say 4 miles overnight) really could be +/- 2, so real value could range from a low of 2 miles to a high of 6. Given the relatively small number of miles lost in 5.8 sleep, we should not read too much into what seems like a wide variation but is mostly display rounding.

Truncating would be +/- 2
Rounding would be +/- 1

But I get your point.

Anyone else notice the car staying awake after charging at night? Charging kicks in at midnight for me and even if it only takes an hour top off the battery, the car has repeatedly remained awake for 6+ hours losing 4-5 miles in the process. Sleep mode doesn't set in until 8 or 9 AM in some cases. Any idea what it's doing?

OP here, sleep mode seems to be now working for me in the past 5 days, losing an average of 2 to 3 miles/day instead of 10+ miles. Didn't change anything in the car but my guess is I had a service done last week to swap out the 12v battery. That probably caused the car to be awake most of the time to charge the new 12v battery?
