Just about every premium euro car company only offers non metallic paint as a no cost option. All other types of paint are a paid option.
I'm also wondering if anyone has any experience purchasing the Full Self-Driving Capability after launch, say on the Model S? I'm putting pricing together, and thinking I will be going with the base model, with Premium package, Autopilot, and Color Choice. It puts me right around $39500 after the $7500 and a $5000 down payment. Puts my monthly payment at around $691. I wanted to keep that around where my current BMW payment is at $669. I can manage that. But as soon as I add on the long range I'm looking at $831 a month, and then more with Full Self-Driving Capability. Anyone add it later?
Stick to what I said, metallic = extra.Bwahaha. Stick to what i actually said. WHITE PAINT AT NO COST!

If you don't understand why Elon is inviting competition, then you have never read anything about what his goals for Tesla are.Yes, I have an alpine white with tan leather interior BMW non-metalic and it is great!
Tesla is making a logical mistake in how they are pricing the options.
Tesla fails if they sell the same number of cars as BMW sells 3 series. They seemed to have just mapped the price schedule from BMW over to the Model 3. The number of people with the money to support that sales strategy is not enough for Tesla to be successful in their stated goal. Even with BMW the first two colors are included. After that all colors are $700.
I don't understand why Elon is inviting competition the same way Ford did.

Stick to what I said, metallic = extra.
And that's bullshit.
I personally think Electrek is just using current paint/price options in their article and don't actually *know* that it will only be black. I would have expected Tesla to offer base white as a free paint option now that the 3 is being produced. NOBODY only offers black as a "free" paint option.
So, if you want a D model you'll only get 1/2 or 1/4 incentive. Bummer.
All I wanted was a D with largest battery pack for my wife.
AND you have to wait a whole another yr for it when you waited in line???? Jeez.
Also what is the thing you got for waiting in line???? No mention at all about that.
Glad I didn't stay up to watch that last night.
Exactly. The option adds the glass roof, which is tinted.
That does not make sense. I thought the whole point of the glass roof was to give access to the robots? If standard cars have a metal roof then do they take longer to build? Something does not jive here.

You want a tinted metal roof?Without premium package the roof is not tinted?
There is no reason to think there would be.The long range battery version is heavier than the standard range version. It looks like there is a difference in the battery packs. Does this mean that there will be no software battery upgrade option after purchase?
When I go to the page where I can see my delivery date it offers the option of the regular or long range versions, at that point I'm supposed to click on one. Is this an irrevocable choice? I'd like to go through all the options for each before I masked a choice (I have different ownership models to consider).STANDARD EQUIPMENT

Lucky You! I just checked my page and I dont have those options :-( Now hopefully you aren't talking about going to My Tesla > Manage > Delivery Estimator because we all have that option and it says on the page optionally you can choose the option you might get but this won't affect your place in line even though it shows different dates. When I go to the page where I can see my delivery date it offers the option of the regular or long range versions, at that point I'm supposed to click on one. Is this an irrevocable choice? I'd like to go through all the options for each before I masked a choice (I have different ownership models to consider).
