Model 3 is a charging beast

Hi,

yesterday I traveled 269km (167 miles) to a IONITY charging station in Germany. Consumption was 229Wh/km (368Wh/mile) (Hello German Autobahn.) Speed was 150km/h (93 mph)) for most of the trip.

I arrived at the charging station with 6% left. The following 29 minutes blew me away.

Initially the charging session started with 130kW. After taking a photo of the charging screen I got back in the car. The power has ramped up to about 180kW.

After 3:49 minutes (!!!) I had 18%. The speed was 187kW.

After 12:00 minutes I hit 50%. The speed was still 141kW.

Since my next destination was 230km (143 miles) I charged up to 81%. I reached the mark at 29 minutes. (The Navigation predicted 23% remaining at the destination. The stretch to the Austrian border where 135km (84 miles) so I played safe by charging to 81. The speeds where 150 to 180km/h (93 to 112 mph)

I actually arrived with 17%

Combine the most efficient EV with high power charging and you are unbeatable.

Thank you.

Oh, btw. There was also a Audi Etron charging. It was charging around 116kW at 52%

Sounds about right. Here are other examples of charge sessions on 500A CCS chargers.

V3 Supercharging Profiles for Model 3

The lower graph predicts 3.6min to go from 5 to 20% and 25min from 5 to 80% under the very rare ideal conditions.

V3 Supercharging Profiles for Model 3
This lower chart is the best I've seen (thanks to its bar graphs). It enables me to easily see that V3 vs V2 is essentially a ~5min time savings for my typical road-trip supercharge which is starting at 5-10%, ending at 50-60%, and motoring onward to the next supercharger ~150mi down the highway and repeating. Not a big difference for me, but certainly a big overall improvement in number of possible supercharging sessions per day per stall/location across the network.
