The Model S was definitely the hit of the Michigan EV Show!

I took a few random snapshots and uploaded them here: http://csh3.smugmug.com/Cars/MichiganEVShow-2013/29875679_WZH2Kd. The gallery is currently public. There were 4 of us displaying our cars at a time. a 5th showed up just as my dad and I were heading out for lunch and took my place. And ohaq was giving rides. So I think there were SIX of us!

I think attendance was pretty good. It was light for a while, but picked up. Still, I think we can help drive attendance for next year.

The panel discussion was good and helped deal with some of the misconceptions and issues of living with an EV. I think the point that sticks with me the most was made by MichiganModelS (Joel) that the biggest issue is infrastructure and that is being addressed by things like the Tesla SuperCharger network. I also think we need a better way to share information about the infrastructure. For example, I live in Ann Arbor and didn't know that this site existed: http://a2ev.powerdash.com/home/. There's a lot more that we can do.

That's the quick version of the day. If I think of any other salient points, I'll let you know.

@stacyh3

Thank you very much for feedback and amazing pics. 6 Teslas is a strong showing. We will definitely plan it better next year, have fun activities for owners & visitors alike. Elon also acknowledges infrastructure is the biggest roadblock ahead in adoption of EV. I had no idea of Ann Arbor network as well. Anybody else in the panel discussion besides Joel? Hope they will join the club soon.

MI-TMC EV Show Event Summary

Dear TMC Members,

Please see below for Michigan Tesla Motors Club's participation in the EV show recently organized here. Thanks to members listed below for attending and providing details of the event. The EV show is Midwest's largest. Scroll below for all the juicy details.

Event - 5th Annual Michigan Electric Vehicle Show & Rally
When - Saturday; June 8, 2013 from 900 am to 400 pm
Where - Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia, MI 48152
Website - Michigan Electric Vehicle Show

Attendees:

Event Details:
There were 5 Model S on display at the EV show, and was definitely a hit of the show. Owners interacted with visitors, educated them about the car/company and immersed them in Tesla experience including rides. Visitors enjoyed the exhilarating rides, however fun had to be controlled after getting a warning from the security. Dan also participated in an obstacle test track.

Club members also interacted with fellow owners, who are still not members of TMC and invited them to join the online community. Members participated in the panel discussion " Living with an electric vehicle", educated visitors about misconception related to EVs and discussed the role of Tesla Supercharger Network in alleviating range anxiety.

Model S owners were also able to collect few prestigious awards at the show. Congratulations to fellow Model S owners.
Best 4-Wheel Production EV: michiganmodels' Red Tesla Model S
First Place Street Legal EV in EV Autocross - 4 Wheels: Dan Scherer's Black Tesla Model S, Time 21.349 (see the video in the links, on our facebook page)

The members enjoyed the show and we hope to participate in a bigger number in next year's show. This was the first event since we started the TMC in Michigan. We are currently planning for our next event in August. Please see above for the details.

I am so confused on whether I should buy the 4 year service or not. Those of you who already have the car, what did you get?

I bought the 4 year + 4 year extension plan because I typically drive twice Tesla's "annual" number of miles. I was thinking I'd need two visits a year. I clicked the button literally hours before Elon announced the Service Plan was no longer compulsory to maintain the warranty. When you look at the list of what they do, it really is kind of expensive, but it's a brand new car and it probably doesn't hurt to "look under the hood" for potential issues every so often.

I didn't opt for the Ranger service because I live about 4 miles from the Toronto Service Center.

I am just going to buy the 4 year anywhere plan right now. My decision is based on... I am looking at the service site every day and the this site to figure if i should buy it or not. If i am so worried and am spending so much time worrying then before i start loosing my hair I should just get the service.

My hope. I hope there are hardware upgrades that i get and also I hope that 3g will be free for all if not then for them who buy the service plan ;)

Once the superchargers are available in Mi then i will have to pay another 2500 to get that enabled in my car. I wish i knew that the superchargers were coming to MI so soon.

---
Just bought the 4 YEAR ANYWHERE PLAN

First post here.
I gave the thumbs up to a Black our dark Blue Tesla today that I've seen every week for months around 6:50am in the Milan area. It's On I-23 headed toward Ann Arbor in the opposite direction. It's the only one I've seen in the wild and it's the same one I'm sure. If you're on here it's usually wed-thurs I see you pass. Nice profile as it passes.

Do you mean 6:50 PM? I believe that is my brother you see every Wednesday. His Model S is black.

Fast Vs Free Poll - A poll to understand usage patterns for SCs and Battery swaps

Hi Friends,

I am starting a poll to see how do owners plan to use SCs and Battery Swaps. Please click the link below and select the option that suits you the most. The poll is anonymous and will help generate vital data on how owners plan to use battery swap. Feel free to suggest edits or addition of options. Hope we can provide important information to Tesla.
