I thought our seats were made by Recaro!?

I was at a graphics and sign shop this morning and the owner stopped me to talk about my Tesla.

He said that he's making the signs for all the locations of Futuris the manufacturers of Tesla's chairs, and i was like; "Are you sure, I thought it was Recaro"?

yep i have, but i've heard/read that our seats were made by recaro several times usually with the same line that our brakes are Brembo...

our grey leather (discontinued) began to wrinkle only hours after pickup. gray was discontinued. I've seen the ventilated / cooled leather wrinkly also. it too has been discontinued. I don't know ..... something's going on. didn't Tesla poach one of Volvo's auto interior heads? maybe a year ago? if true, it would certainly make sense. I have been in some very very comfortable AND durable Volvo seats over the decades .

I disagree. They are OK and then only for the first 1.5-2 hours. Compared to my other car's (BMW 550i) seats they are quite bad. Compared to my old SAAB seats they are just dismal. Good thing I have to stop every two hours to supercharge!

My wife has back problems after a car accident. She says that compared to our BMW's seats the Tesla seats are torture.

Specifically, there is very little support in the seat cushion and inadequate support in the upper back area. I feel like my butt is sunk into a hole in the seat cushion and the problem becomes absolutely intolerable after sitting for more than 1.5 hours.

I have the latest generation seats.

I don't think one can subjectively compare seat comfort without context of height, weight and build.

I find the Tesla seats very comfortable. We have the white seats in a model X. I am 5' 9 and about 145lbs, runner's build.

Our other car is a 2015 Infiniti q50s. The X seats are easily more comfortable than those. Exception being the third row seats in the X, those are just passable.

Yes, they grabbed a Volvo guy and recently the Porsche guy that worked on the Mission E if i remember correctly...

i agree about the comfort. My Lexus seats were much nicer and are often considered to be the most supportive and comfortable...

I stand corrected as I didn't realize this was posted in the "X" section. I think these seats are Tesla-built from day 1. Since I have an S, I will stay away from the level of comfort provided by different manufacturers based on the complex algo of butt size x weight x height x preferred mattress firmness on Monday vs. Friday etc.

I believe the only seats that we built by or collaborated with Recaro was the "next-gen" seats for the S. The current "premium" seats were not.

Haha--we have the same taste in cars, but not seats! My 2017 S replaced a BMW 535i with either luxury or sport seats (I can't remember which). Being a BMW snob, I expected the Tesla seats to be a step down. But I love the way they feel almost like a body cast in terms of support. I tell friends that they're the best seats I've had since...my SAAB 900.

I agree on your 2 hour point. But I've never had a car where I was comfortable for more than a couple of hours at a time.

I have driven my SAAB 900 23 hours straight by myself and was none the worse for wear! I have had other cars that had nice, supportive seats good for long drives. My Tesla is not one of them, unfortunately. I cannot complain too much, since I have to stop and stretch my legs every 1.5-2 hours anyway to supercharge and the other aspects of this car, such as autopilot, make it so much easier to cover long distances!

Recaro makes a lot of seats for production cars. The next-gen seats in the Model S are made from Recaro

The premium seats in the X and the new S's though are all made in house.
