Fingers crossed for $0 as well - does anyone know if they have to update any cameras or the MM computer or really - what is the list of parts swapped? Recently I thought I saw that the parked screen user interface would be different for Intel vs AMD based computers
Those changes aren't coming until the "Spring Update" starts going out. (Which is supposed to be in 2024.14.x)

I don't know what you are referring to as the MM computer...
But no, Tesla is not going to replace the Intel Infotainment computer with the AMD one on older vehicles, if that is what you were asking. There will just be different UIs on them at least for now. (Some people think that Tesla will bring the new UI to the Intel based vehicles in a later update.)

If you buy FSD you'll get whatever HW is needed to enable FSD in your car.
Renting it is not an option for this.

Exclusive: Tesla faces U.S. criminal probe over self-driving claims
The U.S. Department of Justice launched the probe last year following more than a dozen crashes, some fatal, involving Tesla’s driver assistance system Autopilot, people familiar with the matter say.

That's basically the same story from 2022.
Also from reports:
"The probe, which is not evidence of wrongdoing, could result in criminal charges, civil sanctions, or no action. Prosecutors are far from deciding how to proceed"
and
"Prosecutors scrutinizing Tesla’s autonomous-car claims are proceeding with caution, recognizing the legal hurdles they face, the people familiar with the inquiry said.
They will need to demonstrate that Tesla’s claims crossed a line from legal salesmanship to material and knowingly false statements that unlawfully harmed consumers or investors, three legal experts uninvolved in the probe told Reuters.
U.S. courts previously have ruled that “puffery” or “corporate optimism” regarding product claims do not amount to fraud. In 2008, a federal appeals court ruled that statements of corporate optimism alone do not demonstrate that a company official intentionally misled investors."

Can you cite the statements you think that would be easy to make a case around?
Because per the reports, the DOJ themselves is still having trouble finding them after several years of investigation and tons of internal Tesla documents being reviewed.

Not really.
I mean a diaper genie doesn't grant wishes, and a happy meal doesn't cure depression, and nobody's suing anyone over it.
Especially when it tells you, explicitly, during the purchase that none of the current features make the car autonomous.
