How often do you get ignored by Model S owners

Last week I got a Model S when my Roadster was in for maintenance.
I got a lot of waves from other Model S drivers. They are pretty easy to spot from a distance as a Tesla because of their headlight LEDs, so I guess that's an explanation.
In the Roadster, I hardly ever get any waves from Model S drivers. The ones that do can be pretty enthousiastic, like: "hey man, I wish my family situation allowed me to have a Roadster" and such.
When it comes to other, non-Tesla drivers, I get a lot of thumbs up, and I see people taking pictures when I'm in a traffic jam on a daily basis. Still feeling like a celebrity after a year

Weird thing: kids go insane when they see the car. Maybe it's because of my Transformers/Autobots logo on the back where the Tesla T used to be (previous owner took it off)

Roadsters have a Tesla T on the front (T enclosed in a shield for older cars, or bare on newer ones) but on the back is the word "T E S L A" spelled out in the logo font with wide spacing. Your car's previous owner took that off?

I've never seen a roadster in person. I've looked at enough Tesla porn to think I'd recognize a roadster immediately, but maybe not.

I had a little bit of a media launch when I opened charging stations at my company's office. Four (4) Roadsters showed up along with a number of Model S, Volts, Smart EDs and others. There's 2 in this shot:

You can order new 'TESLA' badging for the back, complete with template. It's not overly expensive, probably around $20-$30 to get.

The SC quoted me "about $40" to replace mine. Prior owner removed them for some reason.

Other than personal preference, is there any reason why one wouldn't want to have T E S L A on the car's tail end? Wondering about bad-things like theft and vandalism, but no matter what the brand, the car is obviously unusual and expen$ive, so what difference would it make?

Personally I'd rather have the lettering. Vanity, I guess...

That was probably with labor. I know the 'Roadster Sport' badge is $20 - the company that did my new film replaced the badges and said the prices were far more reasonable than any other manufacturers (said the 'Porsche tax' was unbelievable).

I've had some of the letters replaced in the past because it appeared someone had decided that lettering would make a good souvenir and peeled several pieces off while parked one day. They're easy to put on, but not so easy to get in exactly the right spot. I'd pay the $40 and let them deal with placement.

I'm bet that included labor and that is very reasonable. If you owned a Porsche and needed to replace the rear badging I bet the charge would be in the hundreds of dollars. If I were you I would definitely have it done.

So some could say y'all ignore us.

There have been very few waves, even in NorCal even when Model S first came out. Now, and in SoCal, it's ObliviousTown. While in Palo Alto you can't spit without hitting a Model S, in Newport Beach you can't throw a baseball without hitting a Model S. Not that you should do either to such a nice car, of course.

It was well over a year ago that at the old Menlo Park service center (birthplace of many a Roadster), I was in the waiting room when a woman looked through the window at my Roadster among the Model S's and said "Oh, I didn't know that now make a convertible, too!"

I have officially given up. For me, Model S owners need to wave first, but I'm not going to even crank my neck to look for a wave, so you better stand up and poke half your body out of the panoramic roof if you want to get a wave back from me.

I try not to take the snub too personally. . . In Southern California, there are Model S owners EVERYWHERE. I've only seen 2 other Roadsters around and I've lived here over a year and a half. So when the Model S owner is a soccer mom putting her makeup on in the rear view mirror, it's not a shocker I look like a tool when I try and give a wave and a nod. Now I just look in their direction and if they acknowledge me, great! If not - I know we're dealing with a Model S owner that appreciates their car for what it is: a phenomenal high performance luxury sedan, regardless of propulsion type. If they raise their eyebrows and notice that I'm a TINY reason they have their great car, that's cool too!

I think my wife saw you a couple of days ago, on I-5 or Via de la Valle. She hasn't seen another roadster for ages, so she actually mentioned the sighting of a light blue roadster to me. You wouldn't have noticed her though, she was in the barn car, an old white Subaru. If it was you, that is.
