The 14-50 when through a recall back in the day and has been fine for years. This is for the 14-30 (and 10-30 and 6-50 since they use the same internals).

Yes, I got that one as well. It was still good for 40 amps, but had some sort of internal thermal fuse. What I'm talking about in Canada came after that. We got a whole new UMC set and a further revised 14-50 adapter that was limited to (I think) 32 amps.
