Fifhting Fossil Fuel Industry Disinformation

The fossil fuel industry spends $1.4 billion a year in the US fighting adoption of electric vehicles and lobbying for state restrictions & fees.
I keep running into this propaganda on social media.

Here's something I randomly looked up -- that will potentially make the parrots repeating propaganda --

*It takes 4 kW of electricity to make a single gallon of gasoline.*

If you get 3.8 miles per kW, that's a bad trade-off.

Sure, it takes coal and oil to produce some electricity, but the percentage is dropping while the cost rises. Solar and wind, on the other hand, bring down the cost of electricity generation.

Petroleum refining does indeed take an enormous amount of electricity, and is a factor that the anti-ev types rarely include in their arguments.

That said, the exact amount of electricity required - and where it comes from - is difficult to pin down. There is an old but long and detailed discussion in this thread:
