We were looking to add a bed to our MY for some light camping. Requirements: as big a possible (I toss and turn and like to stretch out in all directions), storage not a concern, not an air mattress (personal preference).
Ordered a Full size mattress from overstock, Sleeplanner 6-inch Multi-layered Memory Foam Mattress, for about $150 with coupons. I do not see the exact one there now in Full size but there are many good alternatives.
Made a template and cut to fit. Added a spare piece of 3/16 hardboard from HD to support the part that would hang over the head rests. Used it for 4 camping trips and it is great! The Y fits the full width of the mattress door to door, cuts down to 30 or so inches, then back to full width.
