Battery Life Experience

Some real life experience. I have a model 2013 S placed in service in late 2012. 54000 miles; just suffered a failure of the battery management system (car shut down exiting freeway).

Tesla took nearly a month to replace, and offered to replace battery pack, saying it might fail soon anyway.

The car’s value as a trade is only 14,000, so paying 18k for a battery pack made no sense to me.

My battery will only change to 258 miles at max, but I’m going to miss that car if the battery goes.

This is often the same case with 10 year old ICE vehicles. Getting a new or rebuilt engine/transmission can cost more than the car is worth.

There are 3rd party companies that can refurbish your battery for less. That might be worth looking into.

Your car has relatively few miles. Getting the battery replaced might get you many more years out of the car.
