I backed into my garage and scraped the garage door support, giving the damage described in the title.

I took it to an non-tesla Paintless Dent Repair facility and got an estimate for about $1200 to do the job. They even said if they can't get it perfect, they would be willing to charge less. One dent is on the crease line at the bottom of the door, so it will be a challenge obviously. There is essentially no paint damage other that a tiny crack at the edge of the smallest dent. I could deal with getting that touched up on my own should it be needed.

The other facility I took it to is a certified Tesla collision repair shop. They are only interested in replacing the door, repainting and feathering to the other door and rear quarter panel for a cost of $4200 (which they said could go a bit higher based on some of the finer details of the job). They would not entertain any other type of repair. They did say they guarantee the paint job for life. The "match" and feather very much worries me. In the past that has never worked on any previous car I had repaired. You could spot the repair a mile away.

My biggest concern is taking it to a non-Tesla shop and allowing them to remove the door for the repair attempt. They said they have to in order to get to the spot(s) to do the PDR and place on the bench so they can see the dent and fix much better (makes sense I think). Can they do the door removal/reinstall with essentially no Tesla experience? I've read the door removal process in the Tesla online service doc. It's not that hard, but will they be able to do the same? After the repair, Tesla says you have to force the firmware install from the service mode, which seems odd as nothing is touched other than door open switch and window regulator motor unplugged to remove the door panel in order to remove the door in full. (I could do the firmware reinstall myself, right?)

I don't really want to have the door replaced. It's not so much the cost, as it is I know the paint match/feather will not meet up to my standards; past like repairs on other vehivcles were terrible... Any advice is greatly appreciated.
 
3rd option is to hit up ebay/other for a full door in your color. Otherwise sounds like you already decided to try the PDR, just ask enough questions with them to make yourself comfortable and if you're not different shop. Seems a little high in my head for PDR. I did have a friend on his audi with similar damage take a heat gun and suction cup to it pulling some of the damage out and the pdr cost went from $750 before to $350 after (at a different shop mind you.)

I've tried on eBay, and no such luck with the door I need; right rear passenger. I do see Tesla shows parts that can be ordered, and one is the door I need, even painted in the black I have. Problem is, no one seems able to order this. I asked the collision shop and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. All doors they order are ready for paint; they are NOT already the color of the car. So then, who are these pre-painted doors for? Tesla collision themselves? If so, do they have to feather the painting to the other door and quarter panel. I do not want paint beyond the door. I know how that circus turns out.
