I say (hope) February, since I got my TESLA delivery E-Mail a couple of days ago.
I ordered a 90D and are very surprised to already get the "get ready to pay" soon E-Mail.
Maybe I am just dreaming but I do believe that more people are actually ordering the 90D and that TESLA is shifting gears to make up the difference in output of the P90D ;-)

When did you confirm? I confirmed 12/1, but haven't heard anything yet. Don't have a VIN. I did NOT order premium interior upgrade, which could delay things....m
P.S. - I voted wrong. When I hit my choice, I was thinking P90D, not 90D. Changing my answer to April.

I finalized on 12-8-2015 and got everything except the package that would have made it a "P"

your delivery date approaches I will be in contact periodically to confirm registration, final payment, and pickup appointment details.
Your Model X design and order Terms and Conditions can be found on your My Tesla account. Your order will be placed in queue for production at our factory in Fremont, California. I will keep you updated as the production schedule is established and your estimated delivery date approaches.
At any point in the process, please feel free to email or call me directly if you have any delivery related questions. My contact information can be found in the signature below. I look forward to getting you behind the wheel of your new Model X!
Estimating Your Delivery Window
- When your Model X production schedule is determined, I will contact you with approximate delivery timing. We will use this delivery window estimate to coordinate your availability for a delivery appointment.

Some of this depends on when MXs arrive in showrooms. Plenty of people are waiting to order until they see one in person. So theoretically, if Tesla is still building P90Ds in March and April, they may prioritize new P90D orders over outstanding 90D orders. That could push things back.
I don't know if that's how they'd do things, but it's certainly a possibility and wouldn't be out of line with their stated delivery schedule.

I think there's a lot of variation around when a DS gets assigned and when they send that mail introducing themselves. Some people seem to get that letter as soon as the order is confirmed, others not until just before final payment is requested. Seems to be regional/SC dependent.

That is a generic email from the Delivery specialist just giving you contact info. Nothing in that email says anything about a VIN assignment or a delivery estimate or even a pre-production estimate. You are in the same list as everyone else, waiting for non-P productions to start. I configured on 1/4/16 and finalized 1/11/16 and got the same letter from my guy in Denver on 1/13 after we conversed by phone. I have not seen on any forum that anyone has received a VIN assignment for Non-P, Non Sigs as of yet. Your expected delivery "soon" is, unfortunately, just a tad later than you seem to expect. Also, nothing in your email says anything about "get ready to pay." Methinks you are reading between the lines too much. I have RN 16XXX, and don't expect to see my X till sometime this summer. Ty, you have a very early reservation (108X) from 2012, so you should be one of the very earliest non-P, non-Sig deliveries in Colorado. In CO, only 4 X's exist on paper (modelxtracker.com), and all are Signature models with VIN assignments. I would love to know after you speak with Ben in Denver if (and when) you get your VIN assigned, as this indicates you are truly at the production phase.

That's super-encouraging, and I hope you're right! Check your MyTesla page to see if you got a VIN assigned yet (or let us know when you do).
I confirmed 12/20 and haven't received any e-mail yet. I voted May and am expecting mine in June or perhaps July. I'm thinking that once the stores get a few P90Ds for test drives, there will be a bunch more P90D order confirmations that will "jump the queue" ahead of the already-confirmed 90Ds and that will push the 90D deliveries back a bit. As I've said before, I'm not convinced they've built *any* 90Ds yet and there are enough differences between P90D and 90D that I don't think it's a trivial exercise to shift from one to the other. But I'd be happy to be proven wrong and get mine sooner.
Funny how that is... I reserved my car 2.5 years ago, but will consider it "early" if I get it in May, instead of July. Maybe Tesla does know how to manage expectations after all!

I don't think they will perpetually allow P90D reservations continue to jump the line. Ultimately they will need to be able to build multiple configurations on the line. I think they are building P90D's now and will get through the queue assuming a snapshot of lets say 12/31. Once they have gone through the initial queue they will need to start building 90d's and queue up new p90d orders that come in.

I spoke to my inside sales guy about my X (P90DL - production vin 24x) to see if I could tweak my interior -- nope. He was surprised I hadn't heard from a DS yet, says it's "very, very, very close to done if not done already" so given that it's mid January, 33 days since confirm and I haven't been asked for payment yet, I'd say anyone expecting a 90D before April is dreaming.
Agreed. I am hoping for early June but have enough Tesla experience to temper that a bit.

A thought that just occurred to me is that new P90D orders may result from the 'Model X City Tour'. It would be grossly unfair if these orders are allowed to enter production before 90D production begins, because people like myself and others who have had confirmed orders for two months and reservations for over 3 years prior to ordering, put our trust in Tesla and ordered our cars sight unseen. The test drives invitees (no offence to them, they have a right to hesitate) were not willing to chance it, but they will get rewarded. Of course I am not the type who will make a big stink, because I know that will make no difference, but I will nevertheless be less than happy. One way to tell if this is happening would be if no 90D VINs have been assigned by February 5, 2016. If none have been assigned by the end of February there will be no question.
I personally feel that 90D production will start in March, with deliveries beginning in April. How many 90D deliveries there will be in April depends completely on the speed of the production ramp by then. Regardless of when it starts, the wait is almost over.

The absence of any invites last week gives me slight hope that Tesla closed the curtains and will focus on processing the orders for the time being.
Obviously, at some point they will need to change their process to allow for building any order at any point (just like the MS are done), but I wouldn't be surprised if the next few months are spent just going through the existing confirmed orders, and everybody placing orders after this point will have to go through the regular route, i.e. a more or less FIFO style process.

But I think LeonardD is stating that those that decided to postpone a decision, even though they reserved, will now move back up the ladder again over those who committed without the viewing, but with later reservations.
Personally I am OK with that. I had two chances to see the car that others did not. If there is a small window to get the playing field back to what it was originally that's OK by me. I would not have committed to ordering if I did not have my viewings, especially the second one.

It is a complicated issue, but I do not think it would be terrible if people simply return to their place in line. That is if Tesla produced the car in the order of the original reservations, rather than the order of the confirmed orders. Either way, the wait for the majority of the rest should not be much longer, because I do not expect those who delayed their orders long enough to do a test drive to order P90Ds in overwhelming numbers. I just think it is already unfair that people who reserved their cars in 2012 have to wait until after people who reserved in 2015 have taken delivery because the last mentioned group ordered a performance car. To continue this for people who were not willing to take the same risk until they actually had a test drive would not be even more unfair. To be clear, I would have loved to test drive the car before ordering too, but my overwhelming desire to be treated unfairly, have my deposit become non-refundable and my order locked was much stronger.
